While I don't always agree with Matt Collins, the video he posted about sign waving and strategy for
winning was dead on. The fact of the matter is campaigns are won by volunteer labor, there are over 100 million households in the United States and I don't think Ron is going to be knocking on all those doors by himself
I know you guys are passionate, and I know that a lot of you are introverts and really don't want to deal with people. However the campaign needs you to actually be productive for the campaign, and sign waving unfortunately won't do much. I think of sign waving a lot like burning cash, you might get a lot of attention but at the end of the day you just wasted resources.
So before you start bashing me, let's review the success of 2007, Ron Paul had more sign waving events than any other candidate, Ron Paul had more signs in many states that any other candidate and Ron Paul for the most part got his rear kicked despite sitting on a mountain of cash. Now I know you are going to turn around and say there was no media coverage, but let me give you a current example.
In Kentucky Phil Moffett is about to get
destroyed because his campaign has nobody going door to door. He has stolen more free media than any other candidate in the primary, he has a fair quantity of impressive endorsements.
Phil has more signs than any other candidate, has had plenty of sign waving events, and has may of the same passionate people (like we have on here) that were involved when Rand Paul dominated a primary only a year ago. Phil Moffett will get less than 1/3 of the vote on Tuesday and the only difference in their campaign and Rand's is there aren't phone banks, there aren't organized door to door efforts and they have no GOTV or Voter ID strategy.
Fortunately for us,
we aren't trying to get Ron Paul elected instead we are trying to look like a bunch of morons. God forbid somebody tell you the strategy that was actually used to get liberty candidates elected and ask you to help. So feel free to go out and waste your time, because you might as well be campaigning for Mitt Romney.
In full disclosure, I'm not trying to force you to do anything. The fact of the matter is that Ron needs your support. That said I'm not here to argue with you, I cannot stop you from making mistakes. All I can tell you is what worked when I was with the Rand Paul campaign, and what has worked for hundreds of campaigns in the modern era. Nobody likes to go door to door or make phone calls but it is what it takes to win, and I'm not pouring my soul in this race to lose.
We are the army Ron Paul needs but to be that army we need to be productive.
