BATON ROUGE - People in Donaldsonville reported they could use their EBT cards without the usual limit that is allowed on the cards.

Saturday evening it prompted a major chain store to shutdown and hour and a half early. Ascension Parish Sheriff Deputies were called to the scene to make sure everyone cleared out of the store.

Deputies tell WBRZ News 2, no one was arrested.

Witness said, they saw people walking out of the store with multiple carts of groceries.

A similar situation happened at another store in St. Martin Parish.

One unique aspect of my homeschool curriculum is that students can start and manage their own online business. Students will be responsible for deciding what products or services to offer, getting the business up and running, and marketing the business’s products. Students and their families will get to keep the profits made from the business. Hopefully, participants in this program will develop a business that can either provide them with a full-time career or a way to supplement their income.

Internet commerce is the most dynamic and rapidly growing sector of the American economy. Not surprisingly, the Internet is also relatively free of taxes and regulations, although many in Washington are working to change that. For example, earlier this year the Senate passed the Marketplace Fairness Act, more accurately referred to as the national Internet sales tax act. This bill, which passed the Senate earlier this year, would require Internet businesses to collect sales tax for all 10,000 American jurisdictions that assess sales taxes. Internet business would thus be subject to audits from 46 states, six territories, and over 500 Native American tribal nations.

Proponents of the bill deny it will hurt small business because the bill only applies to Internet business that make over a million dollars in out-of-state revenue. However, many small Internet businesses with over a million dollars in out-of-state revenues operate on extremely thin profit margins, so even the slightest increase in expenses could put them out of businesses.

Some businesses may even try to avoid increasing their sales so as to not have to comply with the Internet sales tax. It is amazing that some of the same conservatives who rightly worry over Obamacare’s effects on job creation and economic growth want to impose new taxes on the most dynamic sector of the economy.

The White House and the Pentagon have repeatedly ruled out "boots on the ground" in Syria, but Defense Department officials were less certain Thursday on whether U.S. military personnel might be sent to help secure or destroy Syria's chemical weapons.

Pentagon Press Secretary George Little gave a vague answer when asked if U.S. troops were prepared to assist should an international agreement allow Russia to take control of the tons of chemical weapons believed to be in the stockpiles of President Bashar al-Assad.

"I'm not going to speculate on who may or may not be participating in a process that may or may not take place," Little said. "We've got to see where the process goes" before the U.S. military considers involvement, he said.

The Remnant Newspaper is reporting on Ron Paul's speech:
Despite a Southern Poverty Law Center attempt to derail the Fatima Center's "Path to Peace Conference" in Niagara Falls this week, the event went off without a hitch, and, in fact, attendance numbers exceeded the organizers' expectations.

During the run-up to the Conference last week, liberal newspapers and blogs, relying on a SPLC attack piece against the Fatima Center, initiated an all-out media blitz intended to dissuade the Conference's keynote speaker, Ron Paul, from attending the event. When Paul gave no indication of backing out, however, the media rhetoric began to border on the hysterical, with some reports even going so far as to accuse the former congressman himself of being an anti-Semite[...]Dr. Paul proceeded to attend the Conference as planned, and in fact brought down the house on Wednesday evening with a powerful, hour-long speech that evoked frequent applause and was interrupted by several standing ovations.

"Jesus is the Prince of Peace," Paul reminded his audience, and together we must all "stand for peace," even with those who don’t share our religion or "agree with us on every issue."[...]
The newspaper went on to report that not a single member of the "outraged" liberal press showed up to hear and report on what Dr. Paul actually had to say.

Note The Remnant promises more on Dr. Paul's speech in its next issue.

TAMPA, Fla. — Top Republicans are fighting each other over what one party leader called “one of the biggest power grabs” in GOP history.

Senior GOP officials are accusing the Romney campaign’s chief lawyer Ben Ginsberg of pushing through a rules change for delegate selection that would give Mitt Romney enormous power over the primary process should he win the White House and seek re-election in 2016.

“It shifts the power to select delegates from the state party to the [party’s presidential] candidate,” Republican National Committee Vice Chairman Jim Bopp told the Washington Times on Sunday. “And it would make the Republican Party a top-down, not bottom-up party.”

Conservatives as well as some moderates said Mr. Ginsberg persuaded RNC Rules Committee members to let Mr. Romney - if he becomes president - decide which delegates will be seated at the 2016 GOP presidential nominating convention. It also calls for letting future presidential hopefuls decide who gets to take the delegate slots they win in each state.

Even though changes won’t take effect until 2016, senior officials fear it will dampen the enthusiasm of rank and hamper this year’s bid to unseat President Obama.
Mr. Bopp, who called it “the biggest power grab in the history of the Republican Party,” said the issue emerged because of this year’s fight over Ron Paul delegates. He said that has been worked out and minor changes can address similar issues in the future.

“Those of us in states where the Republican Party is thriving have a problem with people from states where the Republican Party is on life support telling us how to run our business,” a ranking Texas delegate said in obvious reference to Boston (where so many of Mr. Romney’s closet advisers hang their hats, as well as to Massachusetts and the Northeast in general). “They would be better served by taking lessons.”

Romney advisers have argued in private that Mr. Ginsberg instigated the rules change on his own and that it’s irrelevent right now.

Mr. Ginsburg could not be reached for comment. He has served as the behind-the-scenes enforcer of the desires of the GOP establishment for decades.
“This is an abuse of power that we hope will be changed when the full Republican National Convention adopts our minority report that will restore the old rules that let states decide on delegates,” said Carolyn McClarty, chairman of the Oklahoma delegation to the national convention.

Opponents of the move said he “blindsided” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

Mr. Priebus, considered the most conservative national chairman in recent memory, has been put in a difficult situation. If he sides with the grass-roots propoents on the national committee, he buts heads with his party’s presumptive presidential nominee - an advent unheard of in history of both parties.
“We can’t let them undo, with one bad change in the rules, the two years of good work Reince has done in opening up this party to the grass roots,” Mrs. McClarty said
