I like to read fiction as often as nonfiction, and I'm always looking for more good books to read. It's entertaining and enlightening. I noticed there wasn't a thread strictly for fiction, both modern and classic, so here it is.

Try and post fiction that at least has something to do with economics/politics/war etc. since most of us here are interested in those subjects. Thus, something by Ayn Rand or maybe Tom Clancy, but probably nothing by James Patterson or Daniel Steele. Please suggest specific books, and as people add suggestions, I'll add them to the OP. If a whole series of books is recommended, I'll just find and recommend book 1. If the reader likes it, he can find the rest on his own. Later if the list gets very long, I'll probably divide it up by genre.
