  1. Nov. 5th wasn't my intended point, just an example. For better or worse, it's going to be a big day. Personally, I suspect the facebook attack will be such a colossal failure that it won't even be mentioned, let alone tied to RP. In any case, banning people won't stop a Nov 5th MB, but what are the unintended consequences? How many GOOD ideas will those people not share, or how many times will they NOT be inspired to do something by what someone else posted here? I'm not familiar with the two people in this incident, maybe they're just trolls, but that's not the point. Some older threads might have 20% of posters banned. The sheer number of bans troubles me. Unmoderated forums have a lot of stupidity. But they also have a lot of brilliance, sometimes from the same people. I figure reasoning with people is the best option, or maybe a two day ban for cooling off. It's the longer term bans that I'm concerned about because it's impossible to know what will never happen.
  2. "So many bans of grassroots activists at a focal point like RPF can have unintended consequences. Granted, it's your forum. But ultimately it may be you who does the most harm. Fighting this idea is useless, anyway.
    There are no internet gatekeepers."

Anonymous said they were going to attack facebook on November 5th.

This talking point went fairly viral back when it made the rounds about a month and a half ago.

Our forum discussion about that news item that made the daily rounds.

Anonymous also endorsed Ron Paul in a tweet.

I'm well aware that the internet doesn't have gatekeepers.
