Conversation Between Keith and stuff and Anti Federalist

  1. We don't know yet about a bunch of county races and such. For Concord, it looks like D Hassan for governor, 13-11 for Senate (that may change as there may be 2 recounts), and around 215 Democrats in the NH House. The Executive Council went 3-2 D. Some good news, 3 FSP Democrats were elected to the NH House. Currently there are 14 NH Reps who are FSPers, it will go down to 11 (it would have been 12 but a candidate lost by around a dozen votes).

I think things will turn slightly more GOP in 2014 and the GOP will take back the NH House and Executive Council but Hassan will likely win reelection.
  2. I'm out of town right now and kind of disconnected.

I figured local results wouldn't be so good, give me a thumbnail of what the new situation is in Concord, if you can.
  3. It is still way better than the South. I was recently in VA/DC/MD/DE/NJ/NY and there are not only cameras pointed at the roads, but cameras that ticket people. I felt the same way in TN last year. I don't think NH/VT/ME or MA/CT do that (yet!!) We don't even have general auto insurance requirements in NH. You can still type with one hand while texting. You can still talk while driving. We don't have adult seat belt laws. Oh, and we don't even have learner's permits. It could be much better but we are still way better than the other states.
  4. Thanks for that info on the road surveillance.

    I still hate it.

I used to breathe a sigh a relief when I crossed the border into NH, especially when coming from down south, where all the roads are under surveillance.

    No longer.

The noose slips a little tighter.
  5. I thought this might interest you.

"I toured the state transportation center, where they receive the feeds of the cameras on the road. They use them to determine what might be causing traffic delays, and in the events of accidents, if they are able to see it, gauge what sort of response in equipment to send.

They do not have any capacity for recording the cameras, as that is currently against the law in NH."
