Dr. Rand Paul to Force U.S. Senate Vote on War Powers Resolution Concerning U.S. Troops in Syria

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, as a continuation of his efforts to return war powers to Congress and end the American military presence in Syria, which needlessly puts our troops’ lives in danger and risks further escalation of conflict in the Middle East, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) will force the U.S. Senate to vote on his War Powers Resolution (S.J. Res. 51). His resolution directs the president to remove all U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities in and affecting Syria within 30 days of its enactment. Dr. Paul’s resolution is currently co-sponsored by U.S. Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and JD Vance (R-OH).

“Keeping 900 U.S. troops in Syria does nothing to advance American security. Rather, our intervention puts those servicemembers at grave risk by providing an enticing target for Iranian-backed militias,” said Dr. Paul. “Our continued presence risks the United States getting dragged into yet another regional war in the Middle East without debate or a vote by the people’s representatives in Congress. Congress must cease abdicating its constitutional war powers to the executive branch.”

The White House is becoming desperate to continue funding for its "Plan Ukraine," claiming that the money will run out in just three weeks' time. Zelensky himself has been summoned by Senate Majority Leader Schumer to make the case for more funding in a behind-the-doors classified briefing to Senators. Republicans are trying to tie funding to US border security. Also today: The Pentagon can't account for 61 percent of four trillion in assets. By design?

A Wisconsin family on vacation in San Diego was pulled over by police in Oceanside, California, after their rental car was mistakenly flagged by the town’s automated stolen car reporting system. They were ordered out of their vehicle at gunpoint and treated as dangerous criminals. As it turns out, the rental car company had neglected to withdraw an older report that the rented vehicle was stolen. The town’s automated camera system notified police of the vehicle’s whereabouts, leading to this interaction.

The New Hampshire Free State Project has a new executive director. Eric Brakey, a 35-year-old Republican state Senator from Maine, will lead the libertarian group that aims to attract out-of-staters to the Granite State and “turn the tide against big government.”

Brakey brings a long — and in many ways more conventional — political resume to his new job leading the Free State Project, which has often portrayed itself as a renegade force in New Hampshire politics.

An Ohio native, he directed Ron Paul’s 2012 presidential campaign in Maine, before becoming a politician himself, winning election to the state Senate there in 2014, and mounting failed bids for U.S. Senate in 2018 and Congress in 2020.

After a stint in Texas working for Young Americans for Freedom, a political organization dedicated to getting liberty-minded candidates elected to state legislatures, Brakey returned to Maine, where in 2022 he again won election to the Maine Senate.

We seem to be moving (slowly, but steadily) to a multi-polar world. The U.S. empire is continually losing wars and credibility. Meanwhile, other major powers are stockpiling gold and forming economic relationships with other nations around the world. A hundred years of American wars have been fueled by debt, which are fueled by fiat money. Counterfeit money did this to us; and it can only be fixed with sound money.

With a majority of Americans opposing further US involvement in the Israel/Gaza conflict, President Biden is finding that within his own Democratic Party support for his approach is even softer. Younger voters are solidly opposed to further US support for Israel's continued assault on Gaza. That is why while Biden's initial reaction tracked more closely with his neocon views, he is furiously backpedaling under pressure from his own party. Also today: Rep. Massie is the lone "no" vote on another anti-free speech House Resolution.
