Ron Paul with a side rant of politcal accountability
The more I read about him the more I want to tell people about him.
I have always considered myself a conservative Republican, however I have coupled that title with the stipulation that there are several things about the party that I don't agree with. I have always believed that people should not follow party lines, but vote based on the individual, their platform, their morals, and almost most important of all: their voting record.
Everything I have read so far about Ron Paul (aka "Dr. NO" for his amazing record of NEVER voting to raise taxes) impresses me. I encourage everyone to do their own research on the candidates. Don't vote on someone based on party lines, vote on someone who you will agree with! Ron Paul, for example, remained in the Libertarian party for the majority of his career...NOT Republican. In my opinion, he stays to the conservative side for things I like and steers away from the Libertarian beliefs I don't like.
This man is awesome...it's like he knows exactly what I am thinking! I have yet to find a thing about him I don't like or a vote he made that I would disagree with.
He even voted AGAINST the war in Iraq...even John Kerry couldn't say that.
Maybe his growing internet constituency will be enough to keep his name at the top of the ticket. I can pray, and hope, and continue to talk about him...which I will.
But my main point in this post is to encourage you to be a functioning citizen in this democracy that little of us take advantage of.
Stop listening to MTV and what your friends are rattling off from memory, go do the research yourself! Look at cold hard facts (like voting records) not opinion pieces, when making your decisions. Unfortunately for the Obama supporters you may have some difficulty with that considering he's a newcomer to the game. Still...do as much as you can, take advantage of public voting records, and make an educated decision...and know why you support that candidate!
Politics may seem like a boring subject to you and you may decide you don't even care about it all, but you should! This is your country too! BE INFORMED! and REGISTER TO VOTE!
So there. I'm done. Good day!
