I think a common misconception people make with the Ron Paul message is we can eliminate the income tax right away. The truth is, we have to realistic about the situation. It probably wouldn't even happen during Ron Paul's presidency.
Think about it; its going to take a lot of years, a lot of pain (government workers losing their jobs), and a recession to get out from under the income tax. We have to cut spending first, pay back the debt, pay into the "escrow" account for future obligations (all those government pention plans) and THEN cut taxes. We can't eliminate the income tax and expect the debt to go away.
Maybe by the time I have kids, they could be out from under the tax before their 50's....
