After I cast my vote for Ron Paul, I think I'll be changing it back to Libertarian. Why? Why would I become an activist in a party that believes in illegal WAR? Some people want to "take over" the GOP. lol. But do you think the neocon Republicans will just disappear? The party now caters to pro-war, pro-big government, ultra-quasi-nationalists. That's the fact of the matter. The LP is the party if you're fiscally responsible, and socially tolerant, that's exactly what I believe in so I know I won't be booed off the stage in the LP. I would, however, be booed all to hell as a Republican, you think the pro-war people just will stay silent? They will not be leaving that party. Aside from that, I'm not anti-abortion, so that's another strike for me. I'm anti-death penalty; another strike for me. I'm not anti-immigrant, another strike for me.

I'm not a paleoconservative. I'm a libertarian....and a Libertarian.

I'm going to either join or establish an organization in my county, utilizing social networking. That's my plan in the LP. We simply need more voters.

The problem is not the message, I think the problem is that we don't have enough voters. How can we ever win if we just don't have ENOUGH VOTERS? We're playing against basic math here, we're hoping the voters of the other side to not go lol. So shouldn't we be focusing on getting as many people signed up to the LP as possible? Let's get a chunk of that zombie vote, then we can educate them along the way.

I believe that most people don't even know anything about the Libertarian Party in NJ, even though most people either are, or lean libertarian. Most people are confused, they have been brainwashed by public education, so they don't know what they believe in. There are people that truly are anti-libertarian, but they aren't as plentiful as you would imagine.

It's true. Many liberals are libertarians and they don't even know it, they just think that people will die without welfare, people will only suffer, but it's not their fault they think that, THAT'S WHAT WE ARE BEING TAUGHT IN SCHOOL! It's bullcrap.

We can recruit anyone.

Democrats: Explain to them how the free market is NOT corporatism; also how the free market is the most humanitarian. Has the "War on Homelessness" worked? We have more homeless now than ever.

Republicans: their party is full of fiscal liberals, this war is bankrupting this country.

Green: property rights is the best thing for the environment.

Socialist Party: same argument to liberals lol

We have the CORRECT philosophy, so we should never lose a debate.

neoliberalism was a miserable failure in Lyndon B. Johnson's "Great Society."

neoconservatism is a failure

greens are just socialists

We need the grassroots that Ron Paul has in the LP, then we will have the Ron Paul effect, but without a time limit

thanks

You should always go where you feel you belong and where you can do the most. And since you seem to be a fairly pure libertarian, the LP is probably the best place for you.

I, on other hand, am pro-life and share Paul's position on border security. I think I can still work within the GOP if I'm able to sway so-called conservatives back to a conservative foreign policy, and I'm confident I can do that if I frame the issues in the right way. Once Bush is out of office, watch how much easier that becomes, especially if a Democrat is president.

"pure libertarian" what's that? You make it seem radical. btw, Goldwater was prochoice ;)

I believe in border security, but I think we should open the borders once our economy strengthens. Nevertheless, I'm for leaving that to states. I don't think abortion is a government issue, I'm also anti-death penalty. I would be booed for being against the war on a GOP stage, that's what matters. So would you.

Why not be active in both? Join the LP.

Just for the record, I wasn't dissing you by calling you a purist or saying I'm for border security. :) Besides, there's nothing wrong with being radical, as a certain hero of mine would be quick to point out, even if he wasn't THAT radical. :D

And yes, I know Goldwater was pro-choice, but even he can't be a perfect Goldwater conservative. ;) Really, I chose this name because it was his book that killed the leftist in me and because I want any lurkers from other campaigns to know that we're far from being "crazy anarchists" here.

As for the death penalty, I've found that it's losing favor even among conservative Republicans, and pro-lifers can respect opposition to it. And I do plan on voting for Libertarian candidates from now on, so you know.

Cool.

1. Join the LP. Become active.

2. Switch between parties in order to vote for the best guy.

3. I'd prefer to run as a Libertarian, but if you can handle boos, go for it ;)
