Ron Paul - Don't Force Vaccines
Wednesday, January 23, 2008 - FreeMarketNews.com

Ron Paul's libertarian ideology is dramatically revealed when you get him started on topics such as the War on Drugs, the FDA and forced immunization that draw on his background in medicine. Paul, a ten-term member of Congress who's hoping to pick up the Republican nomination for president, feels strongly that the federal government, in most cases, shouldn't be telling Americans what they can and cannot put into their bodies. "I don't think anything should be forced on us by the government, [and] immunization is one thing that we're pressured and forced into," he said. "The other thing they're doing right now is the government's doing this mental health testing of everybody in school and they're putting a lot of pressure, in a way forcing kids to be put on psychotropic drugs, which I think are very, very dangerous. So anything medical that is forced on us I think is bad."

Particularly when you take into account that allopathic medicine is the third leading cause of death

Forced vaccination would be understandable if 1) it would clearly alleviate a public risk, and 2) the vaccine didn't do more harm than good. Both of these things turn out to be rarely true.

The reality is that vaccinating everyone generates HUGE revenues, so public risk is touted as the reason to use vaccines that often either cause harm or don't work or both.

Take the flu vaccine for example. There is a ton of evidence that statistically the flu vaccine doesn't even reduce rates of flu, but most flu vaccines contain a mercury preservative.

It's insane!

Ron Paul may be for vaccine choice, but he is NOT against vaccines per se:

In recent years, Cuba has developed important pharmaceutical products, namely, a new meningitis B vaccine that has virtually eliminated the disease in Cuba; such products have the potential to protect Americans against diseases that continue to threaten large populations around the world

Remember, too, that he chose to become an M.D. instead of an D.O. (doctor of osteopathy). Osteopathic medicine is more alternative-friendly and holistic-friendly, yet Ron Paul chose to build a career in allopathic medicine.

This is available to subscribers only. What does it tell you about the profit motive of Dr. Mercola that he wants to build an email database and won't give the article to people who won't give him their email address?

I think there is very little evidence for this. Polio, diphtheria, influenza, pertussis, and tetanus are indeed public risks. Vaccines prevent these, and thus do more good than harm.

The reality is that vaccinating everyone generates HUGE revenues, so public risk is touted as the reason to use vaccines that often either cause harm or don't work or both.

Vaccines are low-profit, perishable items that are incredibly expensive to develop. Vaccine manufacturing makes so little profit that companies get out of the business.

most flu vaccines contain a mercury preservative.
Not all flu vaccines contain mercury, and if more people asked for mercury-free vaccines instead of being against vaccination per se, there would be a bigger market for it.

Stuff like this, I guess. Try finding studies that back up your claim.

OBJECTIVE: The goal was to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of an investigational, refrigerator-stable formulation of live attenuated influenza vaccine (cold-adapted influenza vaccine-trivalent) against culture-confirmed influenza, acute otitis media, and effectiveness outcomes in young children in day care over 2 consecutive influenza seasons. METHODS: Children 6 to <36 months of age who were attending day care were assigned randomly in year 1 to receive 2 doses of vaccine or placebo intranasally, 35 +/- 7 days apart. In year 2, subjects received 1 dose of the same treatment as in year 1. RESULTS: A total of 1616 subjects (vaccine: 951 subjects; placebo: 665 subjects) in year 1 and 1090 subjects (vaccine: 640 subjects; placebo: 450 subjects) in year 2 were able to be evaluated for efficacy. The mean age at first vaccination was 23.4 +/- 7.9 months. In year 1, the overall efficacy of the vaccine against influenza subtypes similar to the vaccine was 85.4%; efficacy was 91.8% against A/H1N1 and 72.6% against B. In year 2, the overall efficacy was 88.7%; efficacy was 90.0% against H1N1, 90.3% against A/H3N2, and 81.7% against B. Efficacy against all episodes of acute otitis media associated with culture-confirmed influenza was 90.6% in year 1 and 97.0% in year 2. Runny nose or nasal discharge after dose 1 in year 1 was the only reactogenicity event that was significantly more frequent with cold-adapted influenza vaccine-trivalent (82.3%) than placebo (75.4%). CONCLUSIONS: Cold-adapted influenza vaccine-trivalent was well tolerated and effective in preventing culture-confirmed influenza illness in children as young as 6 months of age who attended day care.

It's nice having a allergy to eggs.

Can't take the vaccinations cause they would literally be fatal...
Can't be in the military for the same reason...

He made that choice way back in the 1950s. What's your point?
