View Full Version : Wouldn't it be nice if the politics of fear is directed towards astronomical threats?

I mean, instead of preparing ourselves to kill each other, why shouldn't politics focus on threats from space? Surely, if the Apophis asteroid hit earth (which has a 1/10,000 - 1/45,000 chance of happening in the next 22 years) , it would be at least 10 times as big as the Tunguska event back in 1908. In my opinion, that's more of a threat than radicals with ak47s in a desert.

but then again, peanuts kill more americans than terrorists and also car crashes kill 400 times more than terrorism. That's a fact.
