McCain, Clinton Way Ahead in Arizona
Sen. John McCain and Sen. Hillary Clinton "hold double-digit leads among the state’s most reliable voters heading into Arizona’s presidential preference election," according to an Arizona State University/KAET-TV poll.

Among Republicans, McCain leads with 41% support, followed by Mitt Romney at just 18%.

Among Democrats, Clinton has 45% support, followed by Sen. Barack Obama at 24%.

Nonetheless, many voters remain undecided -- 19% among Republicans, and 21% among Democrats -- for Arizona’s Feb. 5 primary elections.

According to the ASU/KAET poll, the top reasons people plan to vote for McCain: his views and positions on issues; his experience and qualifications; his military background; his reputation as a straight talker; and his honesty and integrity. [edit, expect the RP ads to then trash Rudy on 9/11 ]

This makes me sick. People who are not interested in politics (I used to be one of them) will just vote for the name that they know. This is awful and I will be disgusted if McCain wins this state.

This is bullshit. That poll is not accurate. We had a poll last Saturday the Maricopa County Republican Committee and McCain did awful. He is hated here. Fred Thompson did well as did Ron Paul and Romney.

but... did that straw poll show up on the evening news and in the paper? If not.. then only the people who were at the straw poll know about it and the vast majority of the people who are going to the polls are only aware that McCain has been chosen to win.

I would just like to see Paul win AZ! If Goldwater's son can get out the voters that voted for his dad in 1964, Paul could make AZ a close race.
