However, Novak offered his own personal endorsement of Texas congressman Ron Paul. "He's a very engaging person... I'd like to see him as president," Novak said. "Can you imagine him at the United Nations?"

Shouldn't this be a pretty big deal? Drudge digs Novak.

Novak has attended the Ames Straw Poll in the past and I'll be shocked if he's not here this time. We'll impress him (and the rest of the media) with our crowd - hope our poll results impress him, too.

I thought Novak was coming "dangerously close to such an endorsement, I saw him recently express dismay at the so-called front runners. I am getting tired of yelling at the TV when I hear talk like that, always waiting for the other shoe to drop...and it seldom does.

It's like some curse out of an old fairy tale, people are unhappy but unable to see the obvious solution to their woes because of some evil witch's spell.

For some reason I can't comment at the bottom of that page. Says I'm not allowed to post comments. I guess they didn't like me the last time I posted =P

Well, he said that Thompson was going to get the nomination. But at least people are starting to come around. I don't think Thompson is going to go over as well as people think. He certainly cannot beat a democrat in the general election.

It is a great endorsement, but he is just so ingrained into big politico-think, he says Fred Thompson will get the nomination which is as ridiculous in reality as others say a Ron Paul nomination is.

I am getting tired of that kind of attitude that we hear from journos and talking heads as well.

"Well, Life is good, and really has some fine points, but Death is going to win anyways, so what's the use."

Robert Novak is just shy of insane, but I think this is terrific. ALL of the talk shows will pick up on this.

I bet they go ballistic over on FOX! Fred Barnes and that whole gang will be beside themselves. Brit Hume will be even more dour than usual.

But wait, there's more. Novak's a FOX contributor:

This is just too rich.

I'd love to know what they are saying at the "big time" conservative blogs on this. Unfortunately, I'd bet it gets overlooked.

FWIW, Pat's sister Bay is the Chair for the Tancredo Campaign so I don't expect Pat will come out publicly and endorse RP.

Here's a link to Pat Buchanan's webpage.

Scroll down a little, look on the left hand side under the "topics" heading.

How many 2008 presidential candidates do you see listed?

I don't want Novak endorsing Paul. These sorts of things will scare off any Dem and Independent crossover votes. I don't think too many people like Novakula, so his endorsement is not a good thing, IMO.

It's a VERY good thing. We need mainstream republicans to join the RP gang...we MUST first win the Nomination !

Pat Buchanan was the victim of a massive smear campaign. Click the link for more on that.

I admit that I fell for the smear back in the 90s. I regret that.

Congressman Paul may fall victim to the same type of campaign.

He's already said that he likes Ron Paul when asked who would do best in the debates. He's doing plenty. He mentions Ron Paul practically every time he goes on TV.

Yeah, and he still gets the hell beat out of him nearly every time he writes an article for Townhall. Almost every single time the very same people come out and accuse him of being anti-semitic and rate his articles as low as they can.

Pat's a good guy. If some of you could occasionally drop over to www.townhall.com and if nothing else, bump up the rating of his current article, that would be great. If an author receives consistently low ratings, TH has been known to boot them. (Note: I think you will need to register (free) to be able to do this).
