He won't be a threat. If he officially dropped out, very very few will actually try to still vote for him.

There really is no need to worry. His supporters will know he dropped out, and they WILL NOT vote for him. Why would they vote for him if he no longer wishes to run?

Same reason a lot of Ron Paul supporters said they would vote for Ron Paul in the general even if he loses the primary.

Fred Thompson no longer wishes to run. If Ron Paul loses the primary, that doesn't mean he's dropping out
