A lot of people on this forum seem to be enamored with Walter Williams. How would any self-respecting constitutionalist/libertarian participate in http://www.yaf.org/ Look at the poster. It's a rogue's gallery of neocon/warmongering filth. This is my one gripe with Walter Williams. He talks like a radical but then ends up supporting or at least not cricizing people pictured above.

Baby and the the bath water, where to draw the line?
We could also say the same for politicians, a disgusting lot, let's get rid of them all!

IMO, Ron will need to select a young experienced politician who shares his political philosophy. Someone who can carry the banner of Liberty forward once Ron is no longer able to do so. The ideal person would be a successful governor. Gary Johnson (NM) would fit the bill -- others have suggested Sanford (SC) or Palin (AK) whom I don't know much about.

Take their poll on this page and look at the results. They think our biggest threat is from the "radical jihadists". 51% of 'em.

Didn't Dr. Paul say something in an interview about wanting people who are relatively new to politics/Washingon--i.e., not corrupted or disillusioned or habituated to the "old ways" of our government (see the Bush administration as an example of the old way)?
Not to say that this excludes those governors mentioned above...just saying....

I think he should grab Tancredo or Senator McKlintock (from california)...
Ropbert Ehrlich, former governor of Maryland would be a pretty good VP pick, though I don't know his foreign policy views.

To be honest, Sanford is the best logical pick as it could rally support for Dr Paul in SC, the 2nd primary, so to speak...

The only problem is that you pick VP's after the primaries.

Not every conservative that is for the war is a neo-conservatives. Their are those that have been frightened into not questioning the President in the time of war.

McClintock would be very good, but might not have the name recognition as some of the others (being that he is a state senator).
The war maybe a moot point come election time. What if we start a slow withdraw come October, November, or December? Bush declares victory and starts withdrawing troops slowly a few hundred at a time to make it seem like we are leaving and the Iraqis are taking over. They can keep up this charade until after the elections.

I'll tell you why I like Walter Williams.
Alliteration.
It should totally be sanford. He might be the only other practicing fiscal conservative in the republican party.

I would like to point out to the original poster that although I am not 100% certain, I believe Ron Paul has spoken to YAF before. I am sure he was trying to gain more support for his ideas and not compromising. John Stossel also speaks at YAF events.
As for Walter Williams, I am going to start a new thread about that since I believe what I found is important.

I've been kind of worried about the war as a moot point too, BUT it's not just this war that's important; it's the idea that preemtive war and empire building is okidoki. It's not.
Besides, there will be enough residual fallout from this war to use in our fight.
