View Full Version : Need Feedback For Letter To State GOP Officials

Given today's dismal Stock Market predictions I am going to go ahead and start emailing all of the Republican elected officials in my state about the Glenn Beck Interview of David Walker, where he talks about the National Debt and mentions that only Ron Paul is willing to speak out about this. I am going to send these individually, not as part of a mailing list, so minor changes for office/name will be made. But please take the time to read and critique the substance and style of my email.

Thanks.

Greetings ......,

I am a resident of Senatobia, Mississippi and am writing to you personally in
your capacity as a State Senator. I had thought to write this email a couple of
weeks ago but was reluctant to do so for fear of sounding alarmist, but given
today's Stock Market crisis I have finally found the courage to do this.

Please find with this email a link to a ~9 minute video of David Walker, the
Comptroller General of the General Accounting Office of the Federal Government,
being interviewed live by Glenn Beck on CNN Headline News this past January 9th.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-16u9x3tfE

The first 4 minutes are Glenn Becks lead-up, Mr. Walker appears at the 4 minute
mark. The essential message is that, today, the Federal Government of the United
States is already bankrupt. The reported Nation Debt of 9 Trillion dollars is
only a fraction of the more than 58 Trillion dollars in future obligations that
Congress has already spent. Right now every household in America "owes" the
Federal Government over $400,000 because of this debt. Basically, there is not
enough wealth in the entire National economy to ever pay this debt off.

I know you are undoubtedly very busy with your Congressional duties, and that
this is not something you have any direct control over. However I felt compelled
to at least bring this to your attention, although I suspect you already have a
good appreciation of the problem to begin with. But obviously, if the Federal
Government ever begins to default on it's fiduciary obligations, the
consequences for Mississippi and all of the several States of the Union are
grave. My understanding is that Mr. Walker is trying to talk to as many people
about this as will listen to him, perhaps your office could contact him directly
for more information. The website for the Comptroller General is

http://www.gao.gov/contact.html.

Also, I don't know how many politicians are
left in Washington that are willing to publicly acknowledge this problem, the
Glenn Beck interview only mentions Congressman Ron Paul by name as being willing
to, but perhaps they need to start hearing from individuals a little more important
in the grand scheme of things than an ordinary citizen such as myself.

Please do not feel obligated to respond to this email, as it is not my intent to
importune you for dialog with me. I am merely trying to do some small part in
getting this information disseminated to other Conservatives who share my belief
in limited Government. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this
email.

Yours In Liberty,

William C Colley

Please check this article out and digg it if you like it and pass it on!
It gives a link to Fox's edited part of Ron Paul's answer of the night...
He put them to shame!
Can someone put it in a thread so people can digg the link if they like it?
It is a good one.
thank you! :)

Very good letter! I have just a couple of comments...

In this sentence -

"But obviously, if the Federal Government ever begins to default on it's fiduciary
obligations, the consequences for Mississippi and all of the several States of the Union are grave. "
I would remove the word "several". It's either all of the states or several of the states. This looks like an incomplete edit.

And in this paragraph...

"Also, I don't know how many politicians are
left in Washington that are willing to publicly acknowledge this problem, the
Glenn Beck interview only mentions Congressman Ron Paul by name as being willing to, but perhaps they need to start hearing from individuals a little more important in the grand scheme of things than an ordinary citizen such as myself."

Revision of the first part (use semicolon, end sentence sooner for more punch) -

Also, I don't know how many politicians are left in Washington that are willing to publicly acknowledge this problem; the Glenn Beck interview only mentions Congressman Ron Paul by name.

In the last part of the above paragraph, who is "they" that need to start hearing...? That part is confusing.

Hope this helps!

If anyone wants to do this please get to it. I am imagining even now my State Legislators talking to themselves about that "Glenn Beck video" and "who was that Congressman he mentioned? Oh yes, Ron Paul. Isn't he running for President...?"
