Checkout the subregion of Iowa in the bottom left underneath the main graph. He is searched more often in the state of Iowa for 2007 more than anywhere else at this point so hopefully people are doing their research.

It's pretty interesting, it looks like the data is about 2 weeks behind. I think he saw a rise in searches in Iowa after the June 30th rally. (Thanks Ed Failure)

Get to Iowa ahead of time for one last surge of spreading the word before the Straw Poll!

Giuliani has some pretty low numbers. Fred is being searched a good bit, hopefully the people discover who he really is...

LOL! Check out that 'front runner' Giuliani - dead last everywhere.

Numbers don't lie. If he wins Iowa, we're legitimate.
This could get interesting.

It's good they're researching him, but that doesn't always equal votes. But I'm pretty confident that once they see or hear his message that they'll be somewhat impressed.

When you open up your window, you can change subregions to your own state and you can see how Ron Paul plays in various cities across your state. It might give you some ideas on what part of your state needs some work.

I plugged in my state of Florida, and Ormand Beach sounds like my kind of town!

This is kind of interesting. It compares Ron Paul to Hillary, Obama, Richardson, and Edwards. And look closely at all of the states.

This is all I get when I click on the link Joe:

Your terms - "Ron Paul", "Hillary Clinton","John Edwards", "Bill Richardson", "Barack Obama" - do not have enough search volume to show graphs.

Suggestions::

Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords.
Try fewer keywords.
Try viewing data for all years and all regions.

Excellent find, Josh...thanks for the heads up and THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT:cool:

I hope I see ya there, my friend. I'll get in Saturday night and stay until Wednesday. Va needs me after that ;)

After the debate the search numbers will spike...guaranteed. Even George Steps-in-crap-alot will vote for RP when we get done in IOWA :D

NOTE: I was in Des Moines for the rally and I met this guy, Josh Lowry, and he's my new hero.

Boy, is that telling. Of course in TX, RP is way ahead, and in Utah, Romney is leading. So where does Fred Thompson do best? Besides TN, it's in Washington DC.

This one shows a more realistic look at it. But we're still on top.

The Democrats have a strong showing though:

I've looked through google trends alot.

It's very important to understand, the bars and line graphs are not an absolute measure of searchs; they are a percentage of all google searches which include those terms.

So looking at a state, a very small town which has 10 searches total and 5 searches for ron paul will show a very large bar, but a large city with 1000000 google searches and 1000 ron paul searches will show a very small bar.

It's useful for finding cities that have a relatively strong prescence of one candidate. For example, i live in and have been researching south carolina, and we have inordinately strong ron paul support in greer, probably because thats the main ron paul meetup in the state.

We put up a banner in west columbia that says "google ron paul" on july 3rd. sure enough, in south carolina one of the strongest search regions for ron paul ended up being west columbia, and it spiked in the few days after july 3rd. So this can also be used to measure the effectiveness of grassroots activity in an area.

I've been doing the graphs with "republican" as a term to act as a measure of internet activity in our target voting audience. So by searching "ron paul, republican" and ranking results by republican (or by other candidates) i can find towns nearby that would benefit most from targeted grassroots effort. And even better, once the days catch up, I can go back, and check the trends to measure how much impact our effort had.

I just wish there was more information available with this tool; we could really put it to good use.

It only goes to July 17:

Success! Google Trends Updated (http://google.blognewschannel.com/archives/2007/07/30/success-google-trends-updated/)

By Nathan Weinberg
Witness the power of a single blog post.
I am taking full credit for the fact that Google has updated Google Trends (http://www.google.com/trends) for the first time in over four months, adding trend data right up through July 17, 2007. Previously, data was only available through February 21, so Google has gifted us with a nice 146 days of extra Trends data. Considering that four days ago (http://google.blognewschannel.com/archives/2007/07/26/do-we-have-to-do-this-again-google-update-google-trends/), I “reminded” Google that they hadn’t updated Trends in months, and then a big update comes through, I’m declaring this a success.
Hopefully, someone at Google has set up a periodic reminder to do this every once in a while. Otherwise, I’ll have to.

I am pleased though it appears that RP is in second in Utah. This echoes the results we had at the GOP straw poll. We soon should have a new DVD that is targeted to the LDS faith that dominate this state, and follow Mitt like a messiah.

It seems that Mitt Romney definitely has Utah. I wonder if he wasn't Mormon, would he get all those searches? Hrm...

But it looks like Ron Paul is overall getting a lot of searches... but so is Fred Thompson. To be honest, I never heard of him until a week or so ago that all these polls started saying how much support (even though he hasn't announced yet) he has been getting. But don't hate me for my ignorance, I'm only 17 years young and getting into politics :).

If you want to see where politics fits in generally, add "Harry Potter" to the search:

And that is what we are up against. Getting uninformed, lackadaisical Americans to take notice and stand up for their freedoms. While the likes of Harry Potter, Paris Hilton and Michael Vick are far more interesting to them. Spoon feed the masses junk food while you play a slight of hand behind their backs.
