Nice. More meat for the meat eaters.

Fred is fatally wounded. Good call for him.

If he drops out, let's be polite to his supporters. His small government platform may draw some interest in Ron Paul

Let's not be rude to them.

We all knew Fred would drop out. It was just a matter of when.

He seemed like a nice guy though. I didn't agree with his positions, but he was a lot less slimy than the likes of Huckabee, Giuliani, or McCain.

REAGAN REAGAN REAGAN. That's the key to winning Fred supporters. Go study his speeches. Learn the Goldwater conservatism platform. Convince them that the war on terrorism is isolationist.

I hope his mother gets better. I may disagree with him in certain policies, but I can't imagine how hard it would be to run a campaign with a sick mother :(

Yes, I agree completely. Don't make enemies with the supporters of other candidates. We need them when those candidates drop out of the race.

I'm hoping this turns into a Romney vs. Paul campaign and the other guys just keep dropping out one by one.

true. i cannot recall thompson ever being rude to paul or laughing like giuliani or romney. i dont like his positions on things but he seems to be a genuine guy, i just dont think he was really ever fully commited to wanting to become president

My heart goes out to him...I just lost a mom last month and I am 19. It must be really hard traveling all over, always having go do speeches, etc while having your loves ones away from you especially in moments like these.

Yeah, Fred's probably a nice guy even though I don't agree with him on much of anything and he tends to be a bit of a whore (representing an abortion activist while railing against abortion).

His heart wasn't in it. Fred didn't want to be President, his wife did.

Yup.

So when Fred drops out.. we don't need any threads here mocking him or his supporters. And we'll need to step up canvassing

You can hate on Hillary all you want, but one thing she has done was legitimize women campaigning for president. Therefore if Fred's wife really wanted to be President, she should have been the one running for the position instead.

I know quite a few Fred supporters I've talked to like Dr. Paul's integrity and domestic policies. They disagree with his foreign policy. The question is though if they can accept anyone else just because of their foreign policy. I'm hoping most of them will see through Huck's pandering with Dr. Paul's message. I don't see them voting for any of the others except for maybe McCain, which could be bad.

With the stock market crashing, I'm hoping that alot of people will get over the foreign policy thing and see that Dr. Paul has been arguing about his domestic policy WAY longer and more consistantly than any of the other candidates.

Sadly, some Fred-heads I've talked to like Paul but disagree on the foreign policy.

It confuses the hell out of me though why anyone would want to support this unjust war.

I'm curious to see if he actually drops out. This is a VERY strange election cycle. Fred and Rudy could both just sit at home watching TV and would still get media attention and (somehow) votes. Weather out the storm, spend nothing, and then use whatever reserves they have late in the game, or just aim to scoop up a role as vp.

Or not. Hard to tell. Like I said, this is a strange election cycle.

HuntforFredOctober was just in it to help McCain. He did his job very well. Now here's what will happen: Huck will kiss up to McCain and we have to side with (hold your nose) Romney.

The liberal MSM is pushing McCain. The GOP establishment is pushing Romney. If we help fend off the assault from the left, The GOP will give us a seat at the table, maybe a VP spot under Romney. That wouldn't be a complete diaster. Jefferson Had his Adams. We have our Mormon Filp-flop Mitt. That's what's going down from my perspective.

There's no underestimating how much disdain there is for McCain in the Republican establishment.

Don't forget who brought us McCain-Feingold and tried to shove amnesty down our throats.

VP is pointless, stop supporting Romney.

Ron Paul is 72. VP only helps get people elected President after two terms.

That is the only possible reason to want to be VP.

But even if you would want to stomach 8 years of bullshit from Romney the power-hungry clown, Ron Paul would be 80 afterwards. He probably wouldn't want to run for President, and he would probably look pretty bad after being Romney's Vice President in his dreamy fascist dictatorship of "I'll ask the lawyers".

We and Ron Paul are not in it for power. That is ridiculous to state, and rather pointless that we should care about a VP spot.
