Sigh, why can't these idiots just sit back and let Ron Paul take care of America, he's the only one with solutions.

Justin of Antiwar.com voted for him. Pat Buchanan interviewed him and put it on the cover of American Conservative Magazine. Nader even wrote an article for Freeman Magazine (pro-Austrian economics, pro-libertarian).

Nader is against global corporate socialism, and centralized power, and stuff of that effect.

The electorate has had a couple of looks at Ralph Nader, and they just don't want him. Period.

Not to mention the harsh fact that an Arab-American probably doesn't have a good chance of getting elected in the current political atmosphere.

So here is a good question.

If Ron Paul makes it to the general, will he push to have third party candidates (like Nader) in the national debates? I'm sure whatever democrat would be against it. It's interesting since Paul has had that third party experience before and knows what it's like. Then again, Nader could easily take anti-war voters away from Paul so it might be a bad move politically. The whole thing is fascinating.

Yes as stated by Familydog above and to continue...

My thinking on this was, as stated in the article, that Nader siphoned votes away from the Democrats in 2000, and he did decide to run, would this help or hurt RP?

Or to take this even further, if Nader ran, would this garner more support for a 3rd party run, as many American may see his running as an alternative to the existing 2 party political system in place now.

I know RP has stated he wouldn't go 3rd party, but if more candidates with popularity and name recognition did run 3rd party, or made Independent runs, this would by de facto end the 2 party way of politics.

While I don't agree with Nader's positions on most things, I respect him. He's not a scumbag like the rest of them are. I hope he does run. If we ended up with Clinton, McCain, Paul, and Nader that might be the best case scenario. Nader would pull some of the fringe left votes from Clinton (but he might take some from RP too.)

I really hope he hooks up with Kucinich. Not that I like either one of them at all, but it would be a stronger ticket and would help further split the vote if Bloomberg were to run. If we can convinve Ron to run 3rd party with the Judge, we could ahve a massive 5 way race.

I respect Nader, but he doesn't run to actually win the election. He uses the campaign to get his talking points across and screws up the voting in the process. I'm all for people running for president if they're in it to win it, but doing it to grab some media attention kinda marginalizes the process in my opinion.

Like I said, just my opinion...

Nader is an honorable man. He has held off entering the race because of his respect for Ron Paul. I voted for him before and I would again. However, I would support Ron Paul over Nater every day of the week and twice on Tuesday. Mostly because of his fiscally conservative views and his views of limited gov't. However I think Nater would make a great vice president. He really cares about America and I believe he is a true patriot. He has been this country's #1 consumer advocate and has caught a lot of shit for it. This country is a better place because of men like Ron Paul and Ralph Nater. I'll go one further and suggest that Ron Paul should ditch the Republican party and run as an independent and as Ralph Nater to be his VP.

How can we have a revolution if we don't revolt.

A lot of people talk the talk but these two men really do walk the walk.

Maybe I have been watching too much of the main stream media, but isn't he the same guy who is afraid of microwave ovens and said the Corvair is unsafe at any speed, therefore damning an entire automobile line?

Or is this a different Ralph Nader?

If this is the same guy, I always considered him a bit of a nut because of the stuff I heard about him.

Ralph Nader is someone who spent his life fighting for his beliefs and he deserves respect for that.

It would be so sweet if Nadar ran... with Ron Paul brining in the Lib and Const to the GOP it would make a victory easier.

There are a lot of people in nut houses who also spent their lives fighting for their beliefs. It's about what those beliefs are that matters here.

Of course Paul would. As a congressman Paul has backed ballot access for all.

Wow...so the general election is possible going to have 5 candidates...a Republican, A democrat, Ron Paul, Nader and Bloomberg.

Has this ever happened before? Can 5 people run for the White House?

He's signed the paperwork and has a site up ttp://www.naderexplore08.org/index.html

I voted for him in the past, however, now that I now about Ron Paul I am sticking with him. And more impressed with him than Nader.

What was it about Nader that made you want to vote for him in the past?

He wanted to

rid corporations of having the same rights as individuals
get out of Iraq
restore our lost civil liberties
get rid of Patriot Act
change the way big media can use the public airwaves

etc.

I would like to see Nader make a run maybe be in a debate then back out and support RP as a Independent.

I don't know a lot about Nader. I do remember him running once for (the Green Party) ...but at the time I wasn't paying a lot of attention to politics...being forever young back then.

I do remember a lot of Nader controversy during the 2000 elections. That was really the first year I got interested in the political process...but that election turned me away
from politics.

I'm just now getting interested again and it is because of Ron Paul.

I'll have to read up on Nader to see how I feel about him.

I thought Ralph Nader was a real courageous candidate. He dedicated a big portion of his life improving safety measures and fighting corruption. He is definitely among the best American presidential candidates I have seen in debates. Some of the debates I think are in his movie an Unreasonable Man.

A great dvd came out in the last year on Ralph Nader

"An Unreasonable Man"

You can find it on amazon or any good indy video store, great & informative documentary on Nader and the democratic spin machine that has been attempting to wreck him (when you hear someone say that Nader cost the election for Gore, that is a result of the Democratic spin machine). I would highly suggest watching it.

After having watched it myself, I never realized just how dedicated the man is, even his own family thinks he has never had a g/f in his life because all the man does is eat and sleep on issues he is trying to fix.

I was quite amazed at how footprint Ralph Nader has left on our society, everything from Airbags & Seatbelts, warning labels on medicine & cigarettes, to the actual labels on all food & medince products having to disclose what exactly is in them and what amounts, etc....

However, with all that said

I am still leaning Ron Paul (and I voted for Nader in both the last elections!)
