There's something I have been wondering about in RP's proposed policy of bringing home American troops overseas. He says this will cut back on our spending immensely. But I wonder how so? If we bring the troops home, will we also cut back on the number of people in the military and therefore their salaries? Will we cut back on other military expenditures for equipment? It's easy to say bring the troops home and save money but we still need a military for defense and a national guard for natural disasters etc. Has anyone seen anything where he makes a detailed breakdown about how moving the troops from foreign soil to US soil will actually cut back on expenditures?

I haven't seen a breakdown anywhere, but I can theorize a bit.

1. Less land/structures to upkeep.
2. Less costs of transportation.

Of course, that means over crowding at the bases, so I'd assume some people would be cut. That, in turn, would allow the military to actually pay the troops something decent though (Military salaries are crap. The money is in the bonuses).

Beyond that, I've got nothing at the moment.
