About 250 Ron Paul flyers distributed in Long Branch NJ

I spent about 2 hours this afternoon walking through my neighborhood of Long Branch NJ in 20 degree weather distributing Ron Paul flyers door to door.

I have 500 flyers printed - but after hitting about 250 hours, I could barely feel my fingers (no way to wear gloves and stuff flyers into people door handles :( ) I had to give up efforts for the day. I'm heading back out one night during the week and I'll hit another 250 houses or so in my area.

It's about a $100 worth of flyers and it'll be about 4 hours of my time - but I'll have hit 500 houses. If nothing else, 500 people will see the name, even if they just throw the flyer in the trash. I took the assumption that people who care about politics and might vote will read it to see what they hell the paper said, people who don't care just have more trash.

If I have the time and money, I'll get a new set of flyers printed and try to hit another 500 houses in town next weekend. I put one of each of these rolled up into the door handles:

Hopefully a few of these people are registered republican, and hopefully a few of those read the message and come out to vote.

Trying to do my small part in my small town - if we want to do better than a 2nd place like we did in Nevada, more of us need to put our feet to the pavement and spread the word. Hopefully enough of us care about the revolution enough to spend a $100 in flyers and 4 hours of time to get the message out.

Erp. I guess my fingers were still numb. 250 houses, not hours. :)

BUT THAT SAID - I'm ALL IN for 250 hours if that's what it takes. I just sent this email to my two local meet-up groups:

It looks like tomorrow night (Wednesday 1/23) is going to be the
"best" weather I'll get for a while (mid-low 30s) so tomorrow night,
around 6:20 PM or so when I get home from work, I'll skip my gym time
and I plan to take my remaining 250 or so flyers and distribute them
door to door in Long Branch, NJ 07740. I'm just rolling the two pages
up and stuffing them in door handles, no face to face contact, no
talking to people, just quickly delivering these from one house to the
next. Taking the blanket approach - R, U or D who cares - everyone
should know about the Revolution and know who Ron Paul is anyhow. Even
if only 10% of these flyers are effective, I'll be extremely happy. If
only 1% is effective, I at least can say that I made the effort and
did my part, and for a cost of about $0.14/household, I think the bang
for buck factor is high (figure an average of 2 voters per household,
some will be single voters, some may have 3 or 4) and it's 2 hours of
time.

If anyone lives in the Long Branch and wants to help me distribute
these, please leave me an email jhogan@fbody.com and we'll
co-ordinate.

That said, I'll also make the following contributions back to the
effort based on any help I can get:
* Only 1 person shows up to help me out: I say thanks and I order/pay
for 500 more (~$70) (seems Staples Copy & Print Center can get both
papers printed for about $70 - one single sided, one double sided,
same as what I got at Kinkos) and continue going door to door in my
hometown of Long Branch NJ.
* 2-5 people show up to help me out: I'll order/pay for 1000 more
(~$126) and distribute them in any high density area of NJ that that
the 3-6 of us agree upon, so long as at least one of these same people
agree to help distribute in that area.
* 6+ people show up: I'll order/pay for 5000 more copies (~$580) and
distribute them in any high density area of NJ that that the 7+ of us
agree upon, so long as at least three of these same people agree to
help distribute in that area.

If no one wants to walk around in the cold weather and distribute
these, but lives in a town surrounding Long Branch, send an order of

Again, I don't recommend taking this approach in sparsely populated
areas like Rumson, Little Silver, Atlantic Highlands, most of
Middletown/Holmdel, etc as the time to distribute would be ridiculous,
but if enough people are willing to help hit those towns, I'll help
out as well.

Lets get this done. We need get the word out on the street. We've done
enough, if not too much, on the internet. We need to move the
revolution out onto the streets of NJ and take this battle door to
door. We, NJ residents, have a HUGE advantage over most other states
as we have such high population density. A little bit of time is all
it takes to reach a lot of doors, get to it.

So that said, if I can hit 250 houses in 2 hours by myself, then in theory, 2 people can hit 500 houses in 2 hours. Likewise, if just 10 people would spend 2 hours passing out flyers door to door, we could hit 2500 houses in 2 hours. If 10 of us did this each day for the next two weeks leading up to Feb 5, we could hit 14 * 2500 or 35,000 houses with flyers. Nevermind if 100, or 1000, or 10,000 of us put away the mouse and keyboard for a few hours and went outside. :cool:

Let national provide air support over the radio, TV and news, we need to battle door to door on the ground.
