I'm a filmmaker/editor who would love to start incorporating other footage into ads from debates, etc. Can anyone tell me how to get clips off the web?

I use a program called URL Helper. It sniffs out the most difficult embedded videos and has a specific program section just for downloading FLVs. Their website is: http://www.urlhelper.com/ (http://www.urlhelper.com/)

In case you can't find what you're looking for on the web, Vanderbilt has a Television News Archive that goes back to 1968. They charge a fee for the service, but if you want high quality footage it's the way to go.
