Knocked on more doors this weekend. After knocking on about 40-50 doors, I've realized that there is a shit load of people who are not home and an even bigger shitload of the undecideds. Seriously I only ran into one Obama guy and one Huckabee guy.

All people were welcoming. Some were in a hurry or had screaming kids to tame while I was pitching RP. No one wanted to be contacted by the Ron Paul campaign, though... unless I am doing something wrong with asking for people's personal info.

By the by, those who didn't answer the door had a RP slim jim stuck on their doors. Overall, a very curious and rewarding experience.

Some people opened the door, but the person on the precint voter's list no longer lived there. The above mentioned Obama dude was one of those new guys who moved in after the guy on the list moved out. He is a possible convert as he said he will check out Ron Paul immediately after our convo.

One more thing, almost forgot. The major concern for them, the one thing that would make or break their support for this or that candidate was the economy. Except for the Huckabee dude, but I calmed him down that Ron Paul was pro-life.

I am surprised that this generated absolutely no reply whatsoever.

You're doing great.

I'm a petite woman, so I'm not knocking on any doors or getting any personal information. Just putting a signed note and the appropriate slimjim on the mailbox. No, not IN the mailbox, on the mailbox.

I left them my name and phone number and asked if they wanted a bumper sticker or yard sign.

That's the best I can do. Not safe around here.

You need a big strong man around you.
Take it as a come on or an advice for more effective canvassing. It's up to you.

Great job! You're lucky that you're in TX. I went door-to-door on Saturday, but it was 16 degrees and windy!

here's my account which i sent to my meetups:

Saturday I went and knocked on doors in my neighborhood. It was cold as hell so I only did 20, but here are my results:

One lady that lives on my street said the economy and the war were her two biggest issues. She had looked into Ron Paul, but didn’t want to ‘waste’ her vote. I pointed out that he was 2nd in NV and that the Republican convention will be broken as there’s no clear front-runner and Ron Paul can win if he does well in the Super Tuesday states. She’s now voting for him.

A gentleman that lived a street over from me said he saw Ron Paul on Glenn Beck and he makes a lot of sense. He just got back from vacation and hadn’t been keeping up on things, so he thanked me for stopping by and told me I could follow up with him next week, which is when I plan to seal the deal.

I hit one house with no registered voters, another where the guy said he already knew who he was voting for but would look at my information, another who said he couldn’t promise anything, but it would be hard to vote for a Republican given the Bush admin (since it was 15 degrees and we were outside, I had minimal time to convert him, but I’m following up this week), another lady said she didn’t like Ron Paul no need to drop off my material.

Other houses where no one answered the door, I crammed Slim Jims into the door frame.

Given the above and the amount of time we have until Super Tuesday, calling people is going to be the most effective means of digging out potential Ron Paul supporters.

I’m using www.ronpaulvideos.com to help the conversion process and, while I feel that knocking on doors is the most effective, given the time constraints, man-power, and the amount of people we’re trying to reach, walking around takes up waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time.

Ron Paul’s Presidency is riding on the Super Tuesday states.

It’s now or never people; make it happen!

I wish I could order RP dvds but I am broke and am about to lose my job (non - Ron Paul related) so I can't. I will have to disagree with you on door to door. The effect that this will make on a person on the other side of the house/apartment/condominium door will be more effective then the most professional Hollywood made advertisement.

We did door to door last weekend- had a snowstorm this weekend, no way- but we found that most people knew NOTHING about him. Many didn't even know his name. There were many no-homes as well. We had 2 definite not interested but the rest we talked to were very friendly and responsive. We gave out a flyer and a slimjim. It was loads of fun- I highly suggest buddying up for maximum impact. We were an odd 3 people to pair up...one very well spoken businessman, a very compassionate Christian much older woman, and me the flighty hippie chick, homeschooling mom.
