I could not believe this when I saw it.

It says that Ron Paul wants to get rid of the income tax
...and replace it with the fair tax!

They don't mention any sources.

We really need to contact CNN and make sure they change this. This is an absolute outrage.

Getting rid of the income tax and replacing it with NOTHING is one of Ron Paul's biggest selling points. He has ads that say it. He mentioned it on Leno. There is no excuse for this kind of shabby journalism.

Ron Paul did say the Fair Tax would be better than what we have now.... but it would be better to not have any tax at all.

That's pretty unequivocal.

That is correct, I'm sure we have a tube also on that.

Just sent them this:

Web page with error: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/issues/issues.taxes.html

Part where it says Ron Paul:
"Says he would vote for the proposal supporters call the "Fair Tax," which would repeal income taxes and other taxes and abolish the Internal Revenue Service and replace them with a national retail sales tax."

This is incorrect please see this YouTube video for the correct information:

Ron Paul wants to get rid of the IRS and replace income tax with NOTHING.

I doubt they will correct it, because If I recall he has said he would vote for the fair tax should it come up because its better than what we have now.

So, even though this does not represent the fact that Dr. Paul wants to REALLY cut the IRS and replace it with nothing as we all know, I doubt you could make any headway getting a correction.

Do you not understand that if he would be out there saying that he would be for a Fair Tax but would use it as a stepping stone towards getting rid of a Fed Tax, he would draw some support from Huckster! That would've helped immensely here in SC where theres a husge Fair Tax following.

Right now when you read the article, it makes him look the same as Mike Huckabee when it comes to taxes.

Fair Tax would be nice if they reduced the size of government dramatically, got rid of the income tax, and used the fair tax as a transitional period into NO tax. Ron Paul is a firm believer in what he says, but also understands that transitional programs are needed to get from point A (monolithic oppressive government) to point B (a truely free country).

The current Fair Tax proposal doesnt suggest reducing government, just collecting the same money differently, via a 30% national sales tax on everything. Such a quick shift would be brutal to poor and middle class America.
