Well at least it's not cancelled yet. Giuliani said that he had scheduling conflicts so he should be able to make it now.

If the youtube debates indeed do get cancelled, it will be a great opportunity for the RP campaign to go ahead and hold them anyway. Make a spoof of the debates. Maybe cut and paste some stuff from the democratic debate, and have Ron Paul answer the questions and show empty booths all around.

So, Ron Paul you like You Tube and showed up for the debates. Why are all of your other Republicans wrong?

That's a very good question, and you might wonder why all the Democrats showed up to their YouTube debate...

etc.

If CNN has any guts they will air the debate with only the 3 candidates who have agreed and say that that Mitt Romney and Rudy Guiliani felt like they were to important to participate. Perhaps emails from the Republican community will help that happen.

I don't think that anyone is backing out due to scheduling... here is the real reason.

We as a nation have become so apathetic towards politics. We have to candy coat anything to get people in America to pay attention. History lesson = blockbuster movie with hunky stars to teach us about Pearl Harbor or Vietnam. More people vote for American Idol or So You Think You Can Dance than for who will be running our country. The Youtube debate added humor and creativity to liven up a tradition debate and made it appealing to young people. Who does Ron Paul appeal to? Young people. Romney isn't afraid of Frosty... but afraid that once people are exposed to Ron Paul's message.... people get onboard the Liberty train. Scheduling I don't think so.

Perhaps the CNN execs realize the same thing and are trying to force the Republicans to show their hand by offering to re-schedule the debate. If Rudy McRomney still turns them down after being offered a schedule change, then they can't really claim it was a scheduling conflict. Their fear of youtube will be revealed to all.

The strategy from Gouliani, ROmney, and probably Fred is to not join any of the remaining debates until the Republican nomination. From their perspective it is smart. Why give the up and comer more attention? They want to use their money to win this election. Plaster their faces everywhere without giving free publicity to Ron Paul via debates.

Actually, I believe that if this is their strategy it could hurt us some. We all know that we saw huge jumps in numbers every time there was a debate. It gets your name out to the public for little money.

Rudy AND Romney decline???

The cowards did it... they are just gonna flat out decline every debate where they can get attacked with real questions. The thing about Rudy is, he's been doing this his whole life - i'm sure his supporters won't really care that he dodged a debate. They are so brainwashed into believing that he's an american hero that they couldn't give a damn whether he skipped a debate or not.

If someone can't even deal with random people on youtube how do you expect them to be able to deal with our country?

On Rush's program today he announced this. He said the only people to accept are McCain and (guess who?) Ron Paul. McCain actually likes and respects Paul...and vice versa. Their debate would be very respectful. McCain has called Paul "the most honest man in washington."

cant wait to see the media spin this into a "great campaign strategy" or whatever.

Good for McCain if he said that and I give him props for not trying to avoid this debate. I'm hoping the rescheduling will either cause Romney and Giuliani to come or really show that they are avoiding this since CNN is catering to them here. I know it's to Giuliani and Romney's benefit to skip the debate since they are the frontrunners and it's common practice for frontrunners to avoid debates in the general election so that's how they'd spin it into "great campaign strategy." They both look scared of something here, and I hope this gets a lot of press that makes them look bad and doesn't praise them for sitting on their leads.

If they don't show and still air it without them I think that would be a great scenario as well. I hope that they would be criticized in the media for it. I think some of the 2nd tier candidates having problems with money will drop out before then anyway especially if they bomb in the Iowa straw poll so the debate would be opened up for Dr. Paul whether Giuliani and Romney show up or not. Hunter and Huckabee will probably be the next out. Not sure about T. Thompson, Brownback, and Tancredo though. They'll probably do well in the Iowa straw poll but have nowhere near the national support as Ron Paul.

I doubt is this debate will ever happen. The GOP really is taking the risk of becoming grandma and grandpa's political party if they keep this attutide they have about the internet. Young voters are dumping the GOP in droves.

Only RP can change that situation. That's what we have to stress to ordinary GOP voters and supporters. You're going to go down the tubes unless you support RP.
