I think a tight race for 2nd with McCain may actually be a good thing (as long as our guys edges him out). News stations love the drama and will continue talking about it. Go Ron Go!

A recent NY Times voters guide included Thompson and Giuliani but not RP even though RP had outpolled Fred and Giuliani combining the total votes of Iowa, NH, and Michigan. I complained to the NY Times and received the following reply-

"Thank you for contacting us about The New York Times Election Guide 2008.

Currently on the results page, each candidate is ordered by the number of delegates received under The Times's delegate allocation standards.

For the candidates who have not received any delegates yet, which currently includes Rudy Giuliani, Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul and Fred Thompson, we have been using the candidates' ranking in national polls as the factor in deciding who to include, since the page is meant to be a guide to both the completed contests and the upcoming races.

The most recent Times/CBS News poll had Giuliani at 10%, Thompson at 8% and Paul at 5%. Other polls show similar trends -- see:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/republican_presidential_nomination-192.html

If Ron Paul pulls ahead of Thompson or Giuliani in the delegate count, he'll be included on the page in place of the one he surpasses.

Paul and the other candidates in the lower tiers are all included in the individual state primary profiles with their results, as well as in the candidate profiles, finance pages and "where the candidates stand on the issues."

Maybe after Nevada, RP will have met the NY Times criteria.

Romney is at 55%, McCain is leading Ron Paul by about 50 votes... it's frustrating because we just can't seem to bridge 50 votes!! One strong county, either way, will determine who is 2nd. 2740 to 2688 = 52 votes
