The Blimp is cool!
It gets attention, media attention, it's NEWS.
A Blimp is somewhat unusual, you don't see them every day.
A airplane with a trailing banner isn't cool.
Seeing a Blimp is fun. Kids will point it out to their parents.
If you see a Blimp while sitting in traffic, would you read it?
The Blimp shows our creativity as a group.
$2.5 million estimated advertising & publicity value per month.
Hey, look! Ron Paul has a Blimp! Cool!
Look up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, no! It's Ron Paul!
(OK, enough...)

The Blimp team is doing an excellent job!
They need $$$ now to keep it going.

---- Media Reports ---- (01/13/08)
401 total media reports
Of those,
19 were TV
217 were non-TV major media
165 were blogs or internet mentions

Estimated total media value: $720,266
http://www.ronpaulblimp.com/MediaReportReference.php

When the media reports this it's because it's unique and creative. You don't get that with a plane and a banner.

"BREAKING! A plane is flying over our city! And it's.. wait!!! Pulling some sort of banner behind it!!"

Plus they take the media for a ride. That's a change :D

South Carolina is the FIRST blimp state!

In South Carolina, where Republicans vote on Saturday, Arizona Sen. John McCain maintained a steady 7-point edge on former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, 29 percent to 22 percent, although rival and Mitt Romney gained three points overnight to climb into third place at 15 percent.

29+22+15 = 66% That leaves 34% for Thompson and Ron Paul with very low scores expected for Hunter and Giuliani.

I think we're definitely around 15% in SC. The Blimp is working!

I saw the Ron Paul Blimp flying over Greenville, S.C. on tuesday, when I was canvassing down there..... It really is such an attention grabber!!! It sailed over the main highways down there
making looping paths.

This thing has got to be one of the most creative, cool , conciousness= raising efforts that the grassroots could have ever initiated!
Please help support the Blimp everyone, just imagine this thing flying over some of the Super Tuesday states in the SOUTH!!!!

Do you think they should get rid of the "Who is" part?

How about add "For President"?

Definitely! 2.5 Mil in media exposure per month but thats just on news stations(National and Local). Add on all the people who see it on the highway or as it flies over a harbor or neighborhood. It's definitely cost effective and they need money by today in order to fly it the day before and of the primary in South Carolina.

$70,000 will pay for at least 1300 30 second TV spots in SC!!!! Or a few days of flying over cornfields and some local news station running a 1 minute report between the old lady who lost her can and a crack bust.

I'll take the 1300 TV spots so people can hear the message, thank you.

Yawn! Go Pimp your BLIMP on the sub-forum thread please.

Yawn! Rofl. Well I've said this about a million times but I'll repeat it again. The main grassroots page is meant for raising money for projects as well as others things. Before you tell others what to do maybe you should "go" figure out the rules. Let the administrators do their jobs and if you don't like this project then don't give money, instead of bossing others around. ;)

Ron Paul national HQ has only raised 888,000 dollars since New Years. I sure hope you give to the national campaign instead so Ron Paul can be elected.

We need 23 million before Super Tuesday. This election, the primary election may be determined on that date because they changed the rules, and it is going to be virtually impossible to get advertising on all states without the Media giving it to you - ie media choosing candidates will play a primary role unless people come together to contribute to a candidancy. Need 23 million. We will not win if we can't advertise!

We've only raised 888,000 dollars the whole last 2 and a half weeks.

The blimp should unload $5,000 in one dollar bills over every city it flies over. That $5,000 would really kick up a storm of media coverage.. well worth $5,000 and we could say it signifies the "falling dollar" of our endangered economy. We could stamp them all with "BLIMP FALLING DOLLAR vote for Ron Paul for president 2008". They would be collectible.

What? Are you telling me it only costs $53 dollars to advertise a 30 second TV spot? I call bullshit.

The blimp only needs $26K to finish the day with success. This was good so far, but please don't let these guys down.

$26 K is just a few minutes of donation time during the 6 mil donation day. We can finish this payment to let the blimp fly.

BTW, what was that $450,000 donation to the Ron Paul campaign today? http://paulcash.slact.net/?save_the_republic=true

BTW, I checked the price for the TV ads on SpotRunner. Not knowing WHEN and WHERE these ads are going to run, they are at least $500 and they dont' include the AIRTIME!. NOT $53 as a previous poster suggested.

A single TV ad in prime time is many thousands and people generally skip over ads or TiVo them off. Here's SpotRunner

Fundraiser - Change
Description: Inspiring political ad to stimulate donations to your campaign
Price: (i) $499
This is the price for the ad and the included personalizations. This is a one-time fee and you can always reuse this ad for as many campaigns as you wish. Airtime is not included in this price.

The blimp is like the ELEPHANT in the room. You can't miss THIS Republican elephant.
