2008 Presidential Preference Poll Guidelines
For “Absentee Pollers”

In 2008 there will be a new agenda item in our caucus process. We will be including a Presidential Preference Poll for the first time. Keep in mind that this is a non-binding poll and not a vote.

The results will be used by the candidates and media to gauge their popularity and viability.

Delegates to the State and 4th Congressional District Conventions will be voted on at each caucus.

Those delegates will represent Larimer County at State and 4th Congressional District Conventions in part by voting for delegates to the National Convention where the candidate will be chosen.

It will be important for the poll results to be collected accurately and efficiently so that they can be consolidated and reported to state party on caucus evening.

They will then report the results to the media as a part of what is being termed “Tsunami Tuesday”.

In order to insure that Larimer County’s results are reported accurately and efficiently, the following guidelines for “absentee pollers” will be used to manage the process:

“Absentee pollers” will be allowed to participate in the Presidential Preference Poll portion of the caucus only. Attendance is required at the caucus in order to participate in caucus voting.
“Absentee pollers” will be treated as a separate precinct and will not be included with their individual precinct results.
This process is intended to allow Republicans who are serving in the military outside of Larimer County and their Republican spouses if accompanying the military service members outside of Larimer County, who still retain their voter registration within Larimer County
A written request from the service member or accompanying spouse (i.e. not from their parent or other relative) sent to the Chairman of the Larimer County Republican Party is required. It must be received via mail or email by midnight Mountain Time on February 4, 2007. Earlier submission of the request will better allow for time to resolve any questions that arise about the request.

The request must include the following:

-Legal name
-Legal address
-Birth date
-Reason for not attending in person
-Republican Presidential candidate choice
-Signature of person making the request (unless sent by email)
[/B]The request should be sent to: KirkBrush@LarimerGOP.org
or
Kirk Brush
Larimer County Republican Party
PO Box 283
Fort Collins, CO 80522

Once the eligibility of the person making the request is determined, a confirmation email or letter will be sent to them, and their presidential choice will be counted. The results will be added to the master spreadsheet and reported along with the other precincts to state party on caucus night.
Requests to participate will not be accepted and included in the results by any caucus
