You're not going to believe this. Not only do soldiers have to pay for some of their equipment and food... Not only do they have to give back a portion of their bonuses if they're injured and receive an early discharge, but now this...

They have to pay for equipment that they damage while fighting for their lives.

Yeah, I hate that crap.

For a couple of years after I got out, they took a big chunk out of my income tax refund for just that very purpose.

It wouldn't be half as bad if the equipment didn't cost so much more than it should.

The very idea that they want to charge you for your service to the country is mind boggling. It's a cost of doing business! It's insane.
