Sometimes I wonder if the donation limits are actually beneficial because it sets a target to reach, which encourages people to give more than they otherwise would.

As a college student the cap doesn't effect me, but I've given 1000 dollars, which is 1000 more dollars than every other political candidate in the history of the universe has gotten from me.

I'm deep in debt, but have still given over $1000. If I wasn't in debt I'd give way more than $2300, way way more....this cause is that important. No other candidate is giving speciifics, rather: protectionalism, war mongering, big government, welfare, etc.

i sadly kind of agree with the donation limits because guys like rudy would be getting billions from merrill lynch and the sort. I know its unconstitutional and all, but really it gives us the average people a chance to compete with big business canidates.

I think what it actually does is forces candidates to either have an amazingly good platform (i.e. RP), have amazingly undeserved media attention (i.e. Huck) or an amazingly vast personal fortune (i.e. Romney). The donation limits essentially keep most "poor" candidates from running, and promote plutocracy.
