A different tact on the phone calls

After reading about all the different polls that are occurring, would it be a good idea as we introduce ourselves to the Iowans to begin by asking them some general political questions? Things like -

Do you know who is running?
Are you aware there is a straw poll in Ames?
Which candidate are you currently predisposed to vote for?
Why?
Have you heard of Ron Paul?
Would you like to know some of his positions?

I just think a tact like this might be a little less intimidating.

That is a good idea. The way I find to not be intimidating is just by talking to them in a normal way. Just talk to them like you would a friend. Don't be rushed and even though you have an agenda and a script let the conversation take its natural course.

I wouldn't ask "Why?" Could sound confrontational.

Ask "And what is it about him you like?"
