Since there was a lot of frustration and misinformation surrounding the Iowa caucus, can anyone provide us with details on how the Nevada caucus will work? Do we need to promote a message to RP supporters to remain at the caucus location for the delegate selection? Are there alternate delegate spots? How are alternates determined?

Etc, etc, etc..

Thanks!

The temp caucus chair will hold elections for the perm caucus chair. This is an open vote

Then the delegates will have 2 min to stump on why they should be delegates then a vote will be cast (RP supporters declare the right for secret ballot)

ALSO If your precinct has multiple delegates open then RP supporters go up and make a speech and vote for yourself. FILL THOSE SLOTS!!!!

Then party platform positions will be accepts (no debate, just write on the paper provided and the caucus chair will send them to the count Rep. party)

Now comes those people who will speak for the candidates (RP supports, know who is coming and choose your best speaker for this). The speaker is allowed 1 min.

Then a vote is cast (this is the straw vote) (RP supporters declare the right for secret ballot)

The caucus chair will then count the votes there in front of the precinct and declare the winner as well as mark down the delegates elected.

The RP movement pushed the ruyles here in Clark County to exclude any delegate from voting in the County Convention WHO HAS NOT BEEN ELECTED BY THEIR PRECINCT.

This is to ensure the establishment republicans do not PAD the delegate pools with their cronies.

That's about it .. takes no longer then 20-40min

Thanks, Cawdor! Can you explain why RP supporters would want to declare the right for secret ballot? What does this provide? Why would anyone not want this?

This depends on your precinct.

In my county the voting for delegates is to be by show of hands, unless someone requests paper ballots.

If your precinct has a bunch of people that are hostile to RP that might be a good idea. Some mainstream repub types might want to hide their support of RP (or a known RP delegate).

Some people are going to run for delegate and not even mention RP (you don't have to if you don't want to). Others won't even have to speak. If you've brought enough neighbors & family you can just collect your votes and you're in. If turnout in your precinct is low, you might be able to just vote for yourself and then you're done.

Precinct > County > State > National

Iowa's is a little bit different, they have District(?) too, but it's pretty much the same concept.

is it like N.C. ? only republican can vote in the convention or be or vote for a delegate. we have conventions where only delegates can vote for another delegate all the way up the line from precinct > county> district> primary election(repub/independent votes)>state convention>

Make sure you stick around for the delegate part, a lot of people leave early. You may be needed to 2nd a nomination.
