No matter your level of concern over the CFR issue, we have to accept that it's internationalist philosophy is one that has typically been aligned with the left, and so Republicans (in the past when they believed in their platform) disapproved of connections with this group.

Case in point -

(This of course is something that is totally unsourcable, but was spurred by a GOP member who's a member of a particularly anti-CFR group and at one time had a quite a bit more political influence in WA than they do now, simply because of his age.)

Bob Dole's campaign in WA in 1996 was derailed because ONE connected GOP member got information out about the CFR and his relationship to it. The information was put out to receptive, influential GOP members who were very conservative and the did all the hard work for him without knowing it.

This person doesn't see the political value of this tactic in this election for WA because of the political leniency of Republicans here now, but maybe you can identify very conservative connected people in your state that can utilize this information as a tool to kick the legs out from under the other candidates.

It's totally consistent for the Leftist Dems to be members, but this is something that Republicans (at least those who cared) traditionally were against.

Reagan was called a nutcase and smeared like RP is receiving. Bush Senior was the expected nominee, but Bush's CFR membership sank him. I don't want to get to far into conspiracies but check out that race in 1980 and the after affects. It's pretty scary. Reagan's belief in small government disappeared after very quickly with Bush as VP.
