If you aren't a precinct captain become one today!

I just did!

I'd like to see some final numbers on how we did and how well our captain program worked, but from all the indications I've seen, strong captains made a difference, often leading to 2nd or 3rd place within an area.

If this is true, then the campaign needs to do a way better job of explaining this program and convincing people to do it. Before I signed up, it was all cryptic and shit, and Id get annoyed by people saying 'doooooood sine up1!!!11111!"

From the Michigan forum

Guys, I think we have enough information to guage how useful the precinct leader system is. I assume we'll finish tonight with 6-7%

In my precinct 74 I got:

18/150, 12%, 4th

Other precincts in my polling location:

69:

9/82, 11%, 4th

71:
10/88, 11%, 4th

From Markderrider in Royal Oak

2:
26/202, 13%, 3rd

4:
21/165, 13%, 3rd

According to these results, having a precinct leader doubles the votes! You heard it here people, sign up, canvass, and man the polling locations!

Precint Captain for Chula Vista CA here. I have my area mapped out and Ive started collecting my materials (slim jims, signs, stickers) to begin canvassing. I can have my area done in a weekend.

The precinct captain project was just beginning way back around the Iowa Caucuses (12 days ago) but this is essentially what we were trying to sign supporters here up for.

RP got 10% in Iowa and finished 5th. He got 23% in my precinct and finished 2nd. In an adjacent precinct (demographically the same) with no captain RP got 3%. Having people across America organizing their individual precincts for RP is the difference between winning and losing. It's the single most important thing you can do to support Ron Paul's candidacy.

Question:

I signed up. I have over 1400 registered voters in my precinct. How is that possible to cover?

However, I also have list of people who voted in the last primary, about 270 voters. Seems doable. So far I've been only hitting the latter list.

Am I doing the right thing?

It's really not THAT many people. I just realized by looking at my own sheet that I've done like 150-200 people in a couple hours before. I'd say hit them all if ya can. Try to get a partner in crime through a meetup, or just a fellow supporter you know. Con them into doing it for some coffee or something on a Saturday or Sunday. :) I bet within 2 or 3 weekends tops you could hit them all. Is it really THAT much effort to have the satisfaction of knowing you at least did your part to fight for your freedom? It's not like we're risking our lives, just missing out on being able to sleep in on the weekends.

Well HOPEFULLY triple the votes anyway... I'm trying to convert a bunch of hardcore leftists, so I don't know how well it will go overall... But I'm sure I'll get more for RP than the other parts of Communist Seattle that don't get hit.

Best of luck. The hardest ones to convince could become the most ardent supporters.

We can do this.

Well, usually there is more than one registered voter living at each address. So if you have 1400 voters in your precinct, it's probably only 600 doors.

How is it that a program as important as this only gets three stars when being promoted? This is just as, if not more important than getting an ad on a boxer's back or money bombs.

What's going on here? Who would rate this down?

I say get rid of the "sticky" on Ron Paul's Top Videos, put a string like this in its place. We've saturated the online market, the offline world needs to be addressed.

The only use for the online market now is to communicate the most important ideas, like MLK, etc. Trying to sway people online is irrelevant anymore.

Positive waves! I love it!

I just ditched a forum which I had belonged to for a few years because they just don't have the positive vibe. It's hard, but I can't stay there and let them get me down. RP is our last hope!

That said, I would have signed up as a precinct captain a while ago, but rp2008 doesn't tell you anything about what the responsibilities are.

I have to be sure I can do the job before I sign up to do the job.

Can anyone explain exactly what it is that a precinct captain is required to do?

Thanks in advance.

Jim
