My wife has been trying to convert some of her friends who flipflop between Hillary and Obama. She has let them view the David Walker Glen Beck interview, and these are the responses:

1. This has been going on for ages, its a scare tactic.
2. There was a surplus with Bill Clinton, so only a democrat can do that again.
3. The economy doesn't matter if we don't do something about Global Warming
4. David Walker is not is a position to know this subject as well as Hillary and Obama (wtf????)
5. Universal Health Care will bring medical costs down and get the medical lobbyists out of Washington, thereby eliminating the crisis Walker talks about.

Several more too... but this is just an example of the brainwashing we are up against.

"2. There was a surplus with Bill Clinton"

There is no surplus when there is debt. All Bill Clinton did was overtax society without paying off the debt.

"3. The economy doesn't matter if we don't do something about Global Warming"

If the Federal Reserve were to be abolished then inflation would go down and electric cars would be more affordable. The mufflers would no longer be used and the Oil industry would go out of business.

"5. Universal Health Care will bring costs down."

You can keep medical costs down until you deal with inflation and the only way to deal with inflation is to have a sound monetary policy."

Universal Health Care will bring medical costs down and get the medical lobbyists out of Washington

Haha..right!

Universal Health care will actually raise costs, it will just be evenly distributed among the taxpayers. And the more government gets involved in health care, all the more reason for the lobbyist to go to Washington.

Sometimes I start to think that maybe America really should allow itself to become socialist. Maybe then, when we're all in the gulag, people might start to wake up.

Also, there will be fewer doctors.

A surplus in Clinton? Yeah, at the cost of the entire social security fund.

There seems to be no arguing with these folks. They have been completely brainwashed to think that it HAS to be Hillary or Obama, and that they can only save the country.

It didn't seem to matter what we said to them (I was coaching my wife). If they got cornered, they went into ad hominems lol.

Indeed i got a older friend named doug (go figure) that believes only in clinton, and thinks all republicans are bad, and clinton had a surplus and some other bs..
It makes me wish i could never meet another democrat rest of my life they are soo blind sided. Along with the rest of the voting population besides those few smartt people

Yeah, I really don't understand it all... We're not talking "values issues" that get into morals, relgious beliefs, and that whole wishy washy mess...

But when you show people David Walker explaining in real numbers how screwed our economy is, where there are no arguments of beliefs, and they still try to discredit it.. it just amazes me.

Well when socialism comes to America I just hope I'm already gone to some other part of the world. Then again I believe most of the countries in the world have become overtaken by Socialism. Well here comes the world Karl Marx hoped for except the working class is still sent down the crapper and the elitist still rule.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Marx a Communist (slightly different than a socialist, but it's been many, many years since I sat through that class.. so I may be incorrect)

Some Democrats, who are really anti war, should vote for Paul, since he is like the only candidate that would pull out immediately.

LOL! Forgot about war issue... they completely flip flopped on that...

Back several years ago, I was semi-Neocon.. I thought we had to stay in Iraq, because of the "then what happens?" question. Pulling out and doing nothing else, they still hate us. Dr Paul opened my eyes to the idea of pulling out of everywhere, and that answered that question for me, so I'm all for pulling out now.

Anyways, several years ago I was arguing with one of them. They were arguing that we had no reason to go in, it was costing too much money, and that we needed to pull out NOW. I was arguing, "Ok, then what? They still hate us and if anything the attacks will get worse"....

Now when we tell them Ron Paul wants to pull out now, we are told that we started the war there and have a moral obligation not to leave that country in the current state it's in.... It just amazes me.

You need to be VERY clear on the surplus thing. Clinton eliminated the yearly deficit (money in minus money out for the year), but didn't touch the national debt (total amount we owe).

As someone pointed out, Clinton stole the Social Security funds for that "surplus."

These democrats are the same as the neo-conservatives. They really have no understanding of economics and think we can spend ourselves away from debt.

Number one rule for getting out of debt...STOP SPENDING!

David Walker not in a position to know anything, geez, he's the nation's top accountant!

Of course, Big Pharma is going to lose it's lobby influence and control because of federal health care. They are uneducated about the subjects and naive, and they are have been fed lies and misinformation. The mesh of medical lobbying will with the gov't will get bigger. Tell them one reason for the soar in health care costs is because of Medicare.
