I'm considering using a version of this in a CA newspaper. What do you think?

We are planning on using that here in southern Illinois as a flyer in the newspaper. That will be on one side and the chart of candidate positions will be on the other.

I think they are both excellent.

It is interesting, but I think could potentially confuse people.

Most people only "glance" through a newspaper... and with this ad when they hit just the tops of the bumps they come away with 3 thoughts:

A) White House for Sale
B) Ron Paul donations = $0
C) Who is People's Candidate? (Is that "Peoples" like in "People's Republic of China?)
C) A + B + C = Conclusion: Ron Paul is a Communist Party candidate who has been unable to raise any money, and would "sell himself" for the White House (or something like that).

Now obviously that is NOT what the ad actually says... but that IS what a casual "glancer/reader" can come away with.

Why? Simple, Because there is NOTHING in BIG BOLD TYPE that says anything otherwise.

90% of the people read the headlines and NOTHING ELSE. Simplest way to notice this is to make the ad REALLY SMALL... so that the "body text" and captions become unreadable.

Knowing this is VERY important if you are designing newspaper ads, inserts, or simple flyers... Hence the following:

...and have finished work on a New Website based on a new "Man of Common Sense" theme (which works with '76 Revolution and Constitution concepts AS WELL as in just plain English w/o the historical reference) for expanded grassroots

http://www.manofcommonsense.com/CommonSense/images/ManOfCS_ALL_R10_P1_170wDS.png The first -- "Did You STOP Voting?" -- is aimed at the classic "apathetic voter" (the houses you are otherwise going right past when you do standard voter-list canvassing). This ad is SPECIFICALLY designed to use a style of advertising that has been VERY successful over the years.

http://www.manofcommonsense.com/CommonSense/images/ManOfCS_ALL_R10_P2_170wDS.png The second -- "Common Sense -- Accountability" -- is a more "general voter" piece. This ad is uses a similar style of advertising to the first. The SOLID BLACK with the statements at the top is the "stunner" and sets the reader up with the fact that Common Sense = Accountability (and plays to the current environment, whether the voter is a Democrat OR a Republican does NOT matter).

Goal of both flyers is to subtly IMPLANT into people's heads VIRTUALLY ALL that "superficial voters" need to know to make them WANT to vote for Ron Paul, THE candidate of COMMON SENSE.

Versions are available with SPECIFIC Primary dates for the upcoming primaries (NV & SC through end of February) -- with a separate "NO DATE" version for use elsewhere.

Note that this is hosted on the same server as my InfiniteRonPaul service... which many of you are already familiar with.

That's pretty funny, and if you don't mind me saying, pretty clever. I'm not sure I would have come to the same conclusion, but if the majority of people would then I agree that would be a disaster:)

You've given me something to think about.

I would certainly HOPE that majority of the people would NOT come to that same conclusion... But I guarantee you that SOME of them will think EXACTLY that... despite how "weird" it seems.

But people who "glance" at things without really reading them (think National Enquirer headlines at the Supermarkets) can come up with the *weirdest* ways of combining odd points to "reinforce" other things they have heard or seen.

Think, how many people believe something WACKY about our candidate like: "Ron Paul wants to end all of the public schools! I couldn't afford to send MY kids to private school, and then who would watch my children while I'm at work?"

WHERE in the heck did they get THAT idea? From Ron himself -- you see they were only HALF-LISTENING and when Ron said "I would eliminate the Dept of Education" -- combine THAT statement with their complete lack of understanding of how things work... and it seems true.

I've said MANY times before that Ron gives people too much credit -- he assumes they know ALMOST as much as he does... and thus most of what he says gets misconstrued (think of the "Lincoln" comments, etc.) -- in part because he doesn't make certain that the "tops of the bumps" -- the "headline copy" contains ENOUGH of the story to prevent the "glancers" from misunderstanding it.

So, when he talks about the Dept of Education, he needs to make absolutely certain that he says the "FEDERAL Department of Education" and also that the point is to "RETURN CONTROL to the PARENTS, TEACHERS and PRINCIPALS so that we can have the BEST PUBLIC SCHOOLS in the world."

Or something along those lines... because people do NOT always hear what you are actually saying... and with Text Advertisments they do NOT read the fine print. (Trust me Daily Newspapers are WELL AWARE of this -- pick up a local newspaper sometime and "read" it from 10 feet away... Then you will understand WHY our population "thinks" as it does.)

I would think that people who are REALLY concerned about NAFTA, CAFTA, the TTSC, and the possible NAU are most likely already online and aware of Ron Paul's positions on such matters.

There would be little point in placing those on a piece of general campaign literature, as those are not major campaign issues that are likely to influence either the "apathetic" non-voters or the "superficial" voters out there.
