Charleston, WV (HNN) – An updated listing of Republican delegates who registered for the Feb. 5 statewide Charleston convention has been announced by wvgopconvention.com. The new tally adds some of the registrations that came in by mail. At least one additional update is anticipated.

Mitt Romney leads the committed delegates with 191 followed by Ron Paul at 177, Fred Thompson 157, Mike Huckabee 126, Rudy Giuliani 89, John McCain 25, Duncan Hunter 7, and Alan Keyes 5. A total of 589 delegates are listed as “uncommitted.”

After all of the delegate registrations are processed, an online vote will be conducted among at-large candidates competing for more spots than there are vacancies. The West Virginia Convention will have a total of 1,446 delegates.

According to online postings, Kanawha County will be highly contested. As of the latest count, 130 delegates will compete for 51 slots in the online balloting. In Cabell County, 50 at-large delegates will be vying for 27 slots.

what does this mean in laymen's terms?

It's just the number of people that registered to be delegates and have committed to a particular candidate.

Weird, I thought Ron was leading with 200+ at one point. Could that be the last 'update' they are talking about?

That was just delegates signed up to run, the voting took place Jan 1st thru 14th, we will have final results tomorrow.

Most of our delegates had to be voted in, so it's hard to say what the final count will be tomorrow.

I believe the 177 is an official commited count. It remains to be seen if we get the extra 52 maybe from the Kashwana Co vote?

WV isn't a good candidate for free state project. Something like 50-60% of the state's GDP comes from state and federal government, either people working for the state or getting social security/disability checks.

The article is old, we have 230 delegates signed up, but only 58 were guaranteed to go to the convention, you'll have to wait until tomorrow for final counts.

My last count showed the following:

Mike Huckabee - 309
Mitt Romney - 248
Ron Paul - 228
Fred Thompson - 165
Rudy Giuliani - 96
John McCain - 27

Uncommitted - 646

On Dec 6, the count was:
Ron Paul: 217
Mitt Romney:212
Fred Thompson: 163
Mike Huckabee: 129
Rudy Giuliani: 90
John McCain: 25
Duncan Hunter: 7
Alan Keyes: 5
Tom Tancredo: 0
Uncommitted: 630

There are more uncommitted now, and Huckabee has gained 219 delegates? I don't get it. What's going on here? haha.

Yea, Bird made sure WV got plenty of Fed money. I heard a few yrs. ago they got the most money per capita.

Huck doesn't have 300 delegates like that previous post, he has I think 153, and most of those are like ours, they have to be voted in.

I'm surprised they haven't changed the name of the state to the 'Robert C Byrd territories'

But man, they're organized. They turned out in droves at our county convention.

I was kind of miffed to learn that their meetup organizer sent them my message about the convention that I sent to our meetup group word for word.

You are correct, sir. Honest mistake - I can't count ! Dam Department of Education!

Counted 145 for the Huck this time around. PDF still shows 646 delegates uncommitted though.

And we're still placed 2nd in delegates.

GO WV!!!

I was told by a friend that someone from the WV GOP stated at a county meeting that delegates unelected would be assigned to counties that did not have enough people file. I can't confirm that though.

I thought the state motto was "Open for Business." That's what the sign says upon entering from PA.
