I was going to make another thread similar to this, but asking what it would look like across America.

What do you guys think will happen with people's homes? The situation of this nation and the dollar is precisely why I never "bought" my first home with how horrific and damaging home loans are to us and the nation as a whole.

What would rent look like for us in apartments?

Will alot of businesses be closed with windows blocked off?

Millions of people without jobs?

What else would we be realistically facing and seeing?

I dont think Bush would declare martial law over the state of the economy. If there is a big terrorist attack or natural disaster then maybe, otherwise it seems silly. Short of hyperinflation, I think the US could self sustain itself better under economic stress than say, a country like Japan.

We sure could. No matter how bad our economy gets we have soo many natural resources we can recover if we straighten out policy.

I am afraid to think that even under a state of martial law -- a blatant disregard for our Constitution -- people would still be worried about getting online. Isn't protecting oneself and ones family more important in a situation like that?

Whether that means fortifying oneself in a house, or fleeing to the wilderness, sitting online is a serious waste of time in that situation.

"So which road are you taking to Canada?"

To get in to Canada while the US is under martial law, you can't use the roads. I suggest entering the country by canoe in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. Might be kinda cold, but it's beautiful, and the border's completely open up there.
