http://www.dailypaul.com/node/25817

According to the official letter that Albert Howard signed, the cost is $55,600 for the recount of approximately 240,000 ballots.
The Secretary of State must receive the money in the form of a certified check by 3 PM tomorrow January the 15th.

Go to http://grannywarrior.chip... to donate. We need a major effort of all to raise this money by the deadline.

Spread the word, blog about it, send e-mails , get on the phone, do everything you can to make this happen.

When we have come this far, don't leave us hanging...

I trust you do your best.

Albert Howard

I thought that Howard guy already paid for it.

He paid the initial $2,000 fee. The full cost to recount every ballot is $55,600. That's just $20,000 more than what everyone's already raised.

Where would the money paid already go though if they dont reach it?

Keep in mind everybody, this is NOT about Ron Paul winning more votes!

The Republican and Democratic Recounts have been called for in the interest of voting integrity.

Imagine if voter fraud is confirmed in New Hamphire! Imagine how things would change for the other states, what kind of an uproar it would be.

This does not make or break Ron Paul's campaign, but it is completely worth it, especially for all of the work Albert Howard and the Granny Warriors have already put into this effort.

If we have the most meetup groups of any candidate, the best grassroots organizing of any campaign ever, I don't see why everyone shouldn't be able to pull this off!

Send it to everyone you know, post on every forum, and let them know what it's for!

I agree this is essential - not because RP might end up being 3rd or 4th, but simply because if voter fraud has been taking place, it needs to be nipped in the bud NOW.

Not by the 50th state - which will be waaaay too late.

Only paper ballots are allowed in NH. The machines only read and count them. The ballots will be recounted by hand.

They could, but let's face it, if there is any hint of re-count fraud, that precinct is probably going to get a LOT of attention :D

So it's an incentive for them to be completely transparent.

California Debate Qualifications - Is Ron Paul Out?

The candidate must have finished in at least fourth place in a 2008 primary or caucus.

This will be measured by the percentage of votes received in primaries or the percentage of delegates awarded in caucuses.

Contests considered for the Republican debate will be the Iowa and Nevada caucuses, the Wyoming county conventions, and the New Hampshire, Michigan, South Carolina and Florida primaries.

If this recount changes his finish in NH it may let him qualify for the debate.

Hi Guys

In addition, if you have a few minutes to spare, email a couple of sites that might be able to give this a quick publicity shot.

Briefly explain the urgency of this, what it is for, and why it needs to be done.

I've just emailed one site I'm familiar with, but there's plenty of sites and blogs that would probably be willing to post on this if they knew.

Find 1 or 2 blogs or sites that you think would be receptive, and send them a polite email!

Absolutely!.....If there was fraud...and if the recount is honest and exposes it...then a dollar spent here is worth $100 or more spent anywhere else....Again, if there was fraud in N.H. and it is not exposed, then we can expect it to occur across the country and, if so, all that money spent on Ron's campaign will have been wasted (except for the educational value, which, I agree, is an important consideration) so far as Ron's election is concerned. It should not have ended here. They need $65,000 as per this comment on DailyPaul.com:

-----
As far as we know this information is accurate in regards to the cost of the recount and the new deadline. But it needs to be understood that this figure does not include the original $2000 and the overhead costs of having Mr. Howard in NH away from his family. So, it turns out that the entire cost will be close to our original estimate of $65000. This is crunch time people! We need as much support and exposure for this recount as possible. Keep fighting the good fight!

PS The Granny Warrior Chipin is running slow (hopefully due to over use) but keep trying. We shall not be so easily detered.

If there WAS fraud, you won't be able to tell with a recount. There is no paper trail for the voting machines. There is nothing to recount! What do you think you're recounting??

You recount the ballots by hand. The machines skew the votes when they read the ballots.

I say this is not a waste of money, by any means.

They have already said the same people will recount. You think they will do it any different. They are going to cover their asses. We need to somehow get a ruling for a public recount. It should be in public anyway.

AS LONG AS MACHINES AND PRIVATE ROOMS ARE USED FOR COUNTING IT WILL NEVER BE FAIR. THAT IS WHAT WE NEED TO CHANGE.

Why do you think the chippin has the total amount? WE are paying for this. I want to see it happen. Having a recount early on will help make sure the other states and workers know they are being watched.

I live in Ohio....several election workers here were sent to prison for vote fraud in 2004....it DOES happen.

Al doesn't have any money. Al was approached by Ron Paul supporters who have assured him that the finance will come from the grassroots, Al was needed since he could apply for a recount. So far he has been compensated, plain tickets, the initial 2 k and the rest of the money is coming from the Ron Paul grasroots. If they are still short and you feel that a recount should take place than you'll really have to donate yourself. The money really isn't coming from anywhere else.

In other news, I'm assuming that Dennis Kucinich has enough of his own money to cover the Democrats recount? I honestly think there is a strong chance that Hillary got second in NH, and if this recount goes through and she lost in NH, then not only will it crush her, but then the recount story will get unparalleled national attention, which will really scare others into ensuring this doesn't happen going forward. It will also give a boost of credibility to Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul. If this happens and Ron Paul gains enough to take out Giuliani, then we should have it reported to the media that WE were the ones who funded the recount, because WE are the only people in this country who are honestly interested in defending this great nation and will act upon it to make it happen!

If this really develops, Congress might be compelled to start holding investigations, and who knows how far up they can get this to go. The point is, it will really discredit a lot of those who gained at the expense of honest men like Ron Paul in the eyes of the American people. We know that we've got a slump right now with Ron Paul's perception of electability in the minds of most voters, but something like this can really bring us back in the game!

How do we contact Alex Jones to get this covered nonstop this morning? Alex Jones seems to be the best bet as far as reaching a good amount of people and money to fund the rest of this thing quickly. Seeing how much was raised is yet another way that the grassroots has inspired me. :) Let's get posted here contact information so that we can all contact Alex Jones and help get the rest of the money, in the name of democracy and Ron Paul! :D

CONCORD, N.H.—New Hampshire's Secretary of State's office has given Republican Albert Howard and Democrat Dennis Kucinich estimated costs to re-count their partys' presidential primaries last week.

It would cost Howard, $57,600; Kucinich would pay $69,600.

The costs were calculated at 24 cents per ballot. There were about 290,000 Democratic ballots cast and 240,000 GOP ballots.

Each candidate has put down refundable $2,000 deposits. There was no word from either campaign Monday on whether they will pay the balance before the deadline of 3 p.m. Tuesday, but "there is every indication that they plan to," Deputy Secretary of State David Scanlan said.

Scanlan said a re-count would begin Wednesday and could take weeks to complete.

If either candidate would like the count to start in particular voting precincts, the Secretary of State's office would "attempt to honor" that request, Scanlan said. The candidates can end the re-count at anytime.

Howard received 44 votes and Kucinich received about 3,900.

Kucinich has said he requested the re-count because of "serious and credible reports, allegations and rumors" about the integrity of the results. He has emphasized that he does not expect a re-count to find significant changes to his vote total.

William M. Gardner
Secretary of State
State House, Room 204
Concord, N.H. 03301

Dear Mr. Gardner:

I request a proper ballot reconciliation for my recount of the 2008 New Hampshire Presidential Primary Election, and that my recount will include hand counting of Election
Day and absentee ballots, including all blank ballots, spoiled ballots, and voted ballots,
with each count recorded on the recount form.

For each town and/or ward counted, I request that my recount include the result from
each original poll tape, such tape (signed by the election judges) to be examined and
recorded by the ballot recount team.

When preparing the results for the Jan. 8 primary election, the office of the NH Secretary
of State prepared a tally using an Excel program or similar program. I request a copy of
this electronic tally file and a copy of the original data printout from the tally program as
used for the Jan. 8 election.

Pursuant to the state open records law, N.H. Rev. Stat. Ann. sec 91-A:1 to 91--A:9, I
write to request access to and a copy of:

1. Copies of the original reconciliation forms submitted by each election jurisdiction in
the state of New Hampshire. It is my understanding that these reconciliation forms
include the number of ballots at each location, the number voted, spoiled and blank, and
the number of absentee ballots, as well as the number of voters who signed into vote.

2. A listing of all towns or wards in the state of New Hampshire that ran out of ballots or
requested more ballots, or had more ballots ordered, made and/or delivered (the number
of ballots requested and obtained by each town or ward, including date, time and location
ordered and delivered, and the number of voters checked in to vote at each town or ward).
This listing should include the chain of custody for the ballots, including but not limited
to the names of those who requested, ordered, printed and/or delivered such ballots.

3. I request the right to examine the poll books for each location.

4. I request a copy of the list of all towns that had machines or memory cards serviced on
Election Day through the present date, together with the names of all personnel who
provided such service, including but not limited to LHS. In addition, I am requesting a
list of all towns that had machines or memory cards serviced in the six weeks prior to
Election Day, together with the names of all personnel who provided such service,
including but limited to LHS.

5. I request the state of New Hampshire obtain and secure all original electronic
media, including but not limited to memory cards, used in the election until the federal
records retention period has expired, as required by 42 U.S. 1974e.

6. I request a list of every computer containing an election management system, ballot
definition program, or tallying program, used for the election, together with the location
of such computers. These computers should be listed by make, model, and/or serial
number or other identifier. This list should include but not be limited to all computers
used to produce ballots, memory cards, audit logs or other documents for the New
Hampshire election, including but not limited to Capital Offset, LHS Associates and/or
any wards, cities, towns and/or the state...

7. I understand that the office of the Secretary of State of New Hampshire has a copy of
each GEMS file in MDB format (possibly in a format called GBF). Each iteration of each
of these files contains reports. I request a copy, in electronic format, of every report
available under the GEMS menu item "Reports" for each of these files.

Because this information is needed in order to plan for the requested recount of the 2008
New Hampshire Presidential Primary, I request the opportunity to inspect the requested
records by 10 am Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2007.

Please note that this request is severable, meaning that denial of any portion of this
request does not affect any other portion. If you choose to deny any portion of this
request, please provide a written explanation for the denial including a reference to the
specific statutory exemption(s) upon which you rely.

Please be advised that I am prepared to pursue whatever legal remedy necessary to obtain
access to the requested records.

Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Albert Howard
