OK, this will be the actual thread used for the team I am starting. I will ask to get it stickied. The reason I am starting this is because I don't think it's being promoted enough, so I am taking matters into my own hands and asking everyone here to join me.

I will edit this post with a lot of information, but I'll keep it simple to start.

Please post here if you want to sign up and I'll put your name on the list(s)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Internet Team(s) - join more than one
General - Promote it throughout the internet to anyone you know on MySpace, Facebook, Meetup, etc. Also post at different message boards
stormcommander
MySpace - Make sure as many people as possible who are on Ron Paul's MySpace friends list gets a message.
I sense there could be serious blowback from the MLK day money bomb… I hope Ron Paul addresses the Newsletters scandal prior to the event… it just seems... Hypocritical to do this fundraiser until Dr. Paul reveals the names of the bigoted ghostwriters.
It’s a double edged sword, the better Dr. Paul does, the more the Media will report about the Newsletters.
Jeremy
That's not true. He has already addressed it and it's not going to come back up. You must be a little late... the whole story is over. The president of the NAACP backed us up today as well. Besides, this event will show people that he's not racist... how would it do the opposite? o.0
I am sorry, but the scandal has not gone away, and the NAACP and Ron Pauls statement is not sufficient... it needs to be addressed, and saying that the scandal is gone isn't going to make it go away. We know and believe in Ron Paul so the scandal seems silly to us, but to the average voters needs more.
On January 21st, 2008..
Please join us this January 21st as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., by acting together to support Dr. Ron Paul, a new hero who fights for the same American principles of liberty and justice for all.
Martin Luther King Jr. was an American hero who dedicated his life to fighting for liberty and justice for all Americans. In 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, he saluted our spirits with the immortal words, "I have a dream..." Today the dream of liberty and justice for all is slipping through our fingers. Our government no longer speaks for the people. It is waging an immoral, unconstitutional war abroad, while stripping us of our basic civil liberties at home. Now another American hero has taken the stage to fight for our freedom. Dr. Ron Paul, like Dr. King, opposes the immoral wars that we have fought abroad, and he believes in the principles on which our beloved Republic was founded.
On January 21st, when we honor Dr. King and his message of peace and freedom, please support Dr. Ron Paul, who carries the same message, with a pledge of $10 or more. Do not let history record that those of us who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening.
Please pledge to donate on January 21, 2008 at www.freeatlast2008.com.
Let your voice be heard.
Please pass this along to your friends and family.
Why does Ron Paul support MLK so much? King was an admitted Marxist and was against most of the freedoms we're fighting for right now in America via Dr. Paul. If this money bomb is just to make Paul seem "anti-racist", then I think it's pretty ridiculous.
King was for liberty and against America trying to police the world
from bnyles:
"Well the easiest way would be to ask the owners of http://www.myspace.com/ronpaul2008 and http://www.myspace.com/congressmanronpaul to post a bulletin.
Harvesting MySpace friend id-s would be doable but sending messages is something completely different. Why? Because MySpace has installed a CAPTCHA test -- it means that in order to send a message You have to recognize an image and type in the numbers and charaters You see. That is a very difficult thing to do with a computer program. So real human beings have to send the messages.
Right now Ron Paul 2008 profile has over 100000 friends. If everybody sent 100 predefined messages then we need a thousand volunteers to get the word out. Of course that would require a central master contact list. I do not know if people would bother to update it.. so I guess the only way would be to distribute 100 friend chunks of it. But then again, bad boys might grab it and we will never now that say 50000 people have not received the message.
The only real solution I see is a creation of a proxy website for sending messages to MySpace. It would go something like this:
1) a user logs into this proxy website using his or her MySpace account (username and password are not saved, only used for authentication to MySpace)
2) theres a button "send message" -- when clicked, the user grabs an entry from the master friend list, sees the CAPTCHA from MySpace, solves it and sends the message away. So sending a message to a friend of Ron Paul would require less than 10 seconds.
Everyone could do it, provided that. And the real benefit is that the sender doesn't have to surf the profile of Ron Paul and synchronize with other grassroots activists about who has been notified of the upcoming money bomb."
Jeremy
OK, can you try to contact them?
Although, if they work for the official campaign, they won't be able to do it. I bet the second one you posted doesn't work for RP though
I thought that campaign central clearly does not want us to do any more money bombs. I agree...
A) If we don't meet a stated goal, it will look bad on the campaign & RP's viability as a candidate.
B) Tacking this on so closely to such a strong public figure might be taken incorrectly as trying to ride on the coat tails of someone else's image. It may work with founding father associations, but I think you are digging a grave with this association. There is no way to live up to ALL of the expectation people will make about such an association.
If we want to bring in the African American vote, we have to sell our ideas to living breathing African Americans & get them to speak out on Ron Paul's behalf. There is no other way to do it.
Kacela
01-15-2008, 09:03 AM
Cincy - this really doesn't have anything to do about trying to get the "African American" vote - it's about the message; Also, there is no real set goal on this, so any amount will be a victory. I'm hoping for $2 - 3 million.
This will allow for new "converts" to enjoy the excitement of a big money day as well.
And hillertexas, check your PMs - I gave you contact info for Brian - the guy who spearheaded that November 5th and the December 16th MySpace messaging blitzes; As this takes alot of babysitting to coordinate, he will NOT be able to do it for this event, work is just to involved for him at the moment.
Well its pretty fucking ironic that supporters would choose this day. It makes sense to me, and if any of the fruit flies that call themselves journalists would do some research on what Ron Paul has written, they would know he didnt write the stuff himself.
I stand by Ron Paul. I do not believe he has racist tendencies because I researched enough about his character to (gasp) judge him.
I hope this MB raises a ton of money. Maybe the following day he could have a few blacks that have known him for 20+ years come to bat for him at the press release.
If the average voter needs more, they need to get online and find it. The TV sure as hell isnt going to say anything fair about him. Thomas Jefferson said the only honest people in newspapers were the advertisers.
I am currently capturing all 114,951 MySpace friend ID's of Ron Paul. I will then parse the file into 2000 ID "chunks" to be distributed as a text file to be used with the FriendBlaster program. Capturing the IDs will take a few hours.
Brian (who spearheaded the MySpace blitzes for the 5th and the 16th) will be sending an email out shortly, to all who participated before, basically introducing me as the main point of contact to get the ID's from for this event.
This idea was made before the racist newsletters were found by the MSM. We had the Franklin one and this one, but once people falsely accused him, this one became bigger. Well it was actually when Ron Paul acknowledged this day, which he didn't do for any other money bomb.
For promoting on MySpace, if you have a few hours, and you have a Windows-based PC (I'm still looking for a similar program for Macs), I've parsed up the firends of Dr. Paul from MySpace and I have a program that will just about do everything for you - you just need to sit there and decipher a CAPTCHA image after every message sent. Not too exciting, but it works well.
We could use some help. If your interested in lending a hand, I could send you the program and a bunch of IDs - the only caveat is that you need to have a bunch of MySpace ID's to use with it... MySpace seems to frown on sending more than 50 messages a day from any one account. hillertexas may have some MySpace accounts that were created and verified - before we found out that hillertexas had a Mac
So if you have a Windows PC, Multiple MySpace accounts, and some time, PM me your email address, and I'll send instructions along with 50 IDs to start with.
I've placed a link to this movie in the template that hillertexas made for sending to MySpace users. BTW, we could use some help getting messages to all of Ron Pauls friends on MySpace. I believe the messaging to MySpace users was a huge factor in the success og Nov 5th and Dec 16 - the only other times our messaging team was active. If we don't get more help, the results of this moneybomb will be lackluster.
PM me if you have a Windows PC and a few hours to message a few hundred MySpace users.
"According to King's biographer and sympathizer David J. Garrow, "King privately described himself as a Marxist." In his 1981 book, "The FBI and Martin Luther King, Jr.", Garrow quotes King as saying in SCLC staff meetings, "...we have moved into a new era, which must be an era of revolution.... The whole structure of American life must be changed.... We are engaged in the class struggle."
I still don't understand why Paul can sell out to the idea of supporting MLK, a Marxist, or why people here insist on this money bomb. I don't agree with it, and won't contribute to its intentions. I still believe this has something to do with the racist accusations. Paul, whether he wrote or was aware of those comments in his publication, should of stood behind them. Rather than caving in, he should of challenged his accusers to prove the statements wrong. Saying something based in fact does not make it racist, by any means. Ron Paul is not a racist. Paul trying to cover up for the accusation makes it sound like he is guilty.
you don't sound like you truly support Ron Paul.
1st in a free society, groups of people who believe in Marxism, communism, socialism or whatever can co-exist. So how does this make Ron Paul a sell out? It doesn't. Ron Paul is about freedom and if you're free, then you're free to be a Marxist.
2nd Ron Paul did not cave. He simply did not write those statements.
look at the controversial statements Ron Paul has said about Lincoln, Reagan, the civil war, etc. He did not cave! He stood his ground every time. So when he says he did not write the racist comments, I believe him 100%.
the best place to PROMOTE THIS is to make sure EVERY ron paul meetup group 1. has it on their calendar and 2. they send out a broadcast email to every member in their meetup group about the event.
we have a TARGETED audience of over 90k people who want to help out and some are too lazy to canvass OR cant for one reason or another BUT are more then happy to toss some money on a credit card for the cause.
join 10 ron paul meetup groups, email the message about it to the groups and ask that it gets put on the calendar immediately.
