I don't like cross-posting but someone thought this might be good to post over here as well.

Greetings,

I wanted to be able to give a DVD to someone when I was canvassing. I downloaded the official one, and the Paul Reveres one and neither suited my tastes.

I went and made a Title Page that is specific to California that instructs the person watching to Register Republican if they can to vote for Ron Paul, and that they need to register before Jan 21st, and that the Primary is on the Feb 5th.

I included the following videos if you want to know if it's worth downloading:

Video 1: Ron Paul for President TV AD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Med926aDBoc
Video 2: Ron Paul TV AD - Awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_gKOCb4QBA

how is the quality of the video?

I used the YouTube Videos so it can only be as good as the quality of those.

Though I did use progressive scan and it was translated with TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 to DVD format from FLV.

I would say the quality is good, maybe slightly better but not great or HD. If I had HQ videos of those videos I would of course used those, but I am limited in what I have to work with.

What we are trying to do if you think of it , is basically sell something. and that happens to be Dr. Ron Paul. Saying that, we all heard the axiom "he could sell you the Brooklyn bridge". Most of us can recite to potential voters the platform of RP, but can we sell that ? there is a difference.
I truly believe a un/professionally made DVD is the way to go. Either delivered by mail or by door to door or both. BUT we have to get the attention of the people we are canvassing, or to put it another way, to perk enough interest so they will actually watch it and not leave on a table somewhere, or THROWN in the garbage ! Just a simple sentence or note like "wait to you see what Dr. Ron Paul has to say about taxes in the video". then perhaps we perked their interest enough to actually pop it in a player...................all IMHO

Yes I think thats the important thing. I don't give a DVD to anyone that doesn't "ask for it". Basically I do something like this:

Greetings, I am a local Precinct Captain trying to go around and give some information about Ron Paul.

Normally at this point they will indicate how open they are to his message, or if they haven't heard anything about him or what he stands for I will say something like...

Ron Paul is a 10 term congressman out of the state of Texas and he has been known as the biggest defender of the constitution. Would you like some information about him, or a dvd?

And if they say they want a DVD I give it to them, normally if they just say they want information I make sure they have a slimjim, or a flyer with there info.

Right now I am not passing out many of the DVD's because I need to make a spanish one if I can get enough spanish Ron Paul stuff (I live in a town that is about 90% spanish speaking).

I am stocking up though because next weekend I plan on going to a nearby town and I will see how they go over there.

OH....

Also if you have a PDA, or Laptop it might be worth bringing... I bought a car charger today so next weekend when I go door-to-door in the nearby precinct I will be able to ask if they would like to see a Video of Ron Paul and I will have a few videos on my PDA, and the DVD as well as videos on my Laptop in my backpack ready to pull out and show them.

The reason I am doing this is because I need to know before the 21st if they will at least consider voting for Ron Paul because the 22nd is the end of California registration date and I need to get them registered before then.

I think its fantastic! Go door to door and leave a dvd in every letterbox,
Every one will watch it. especially if it looks like a burnt dvd! people will be intreaged and want to watch it.

It should become a part of the Ron Paul revolution culture that every one burns 20 DVDs and posts them around your neighborhood

Go you good thing! burn Baby burn! and then canvas!
When the main stream media ignores Ron Paul we have to become the main stream media!

people don't ask to be fed what they are fed on Tv so I don't think you have to ask if they want to watch the DVD, Just leave a DVD in every letterbox and they will watch it.

FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont leave them in mailboxes, against the law. you can get cheap plastic DVD/CD cases in large bundles for pretty cheap.

Oh wow thanks for pointing that out!
you learn something new every day.

One question though, is it illegal for the official campaign to leave things in letterboxes or for everyone to leave anything in the letterboxes?

If you don't like letterboxes give them out at the mall and anywhere else that its crowded.

I THINK when it comes to letter boxes the items inside have to deal with official mail. (ie. have a postage stamp etc on it).

Would this call for some good 'old fashioned Civil Disobedience?

Is this a slap on the wrist, or a pound-me-in-the-*** offense?

I believe its a large fine just to touch somoene elses mailbox or to put anything in it not coming from the post office. You can also get jail time. It's a federal offense, as the mailbox is considered as federal property. heh

Darn!

Well, we could just leave them on doorsteps, or in the crack of the door, like they do with the Pizza slim jims, right?
