I think this is wonderful. We all need to understand the value of slavery.

It would be GREAT for the economy. How many people would be out of work when the government makes a law forcing everyone to work?

This is like Romneys healthcare plan. If people don't have health insurance, pass a law requiring them to buy health insurance.

If people are out of work or not joining the military enough "for their own good", we need to pass laws forcing them to.

Think of the value of involuntary servitude. Think of what the Egyptians accomplish.

I think this is great and shows the bravery and forsight of our politicians in Washington.

They tried to have highschool students in Michigan do 40 hours of community service before they could graduate. Someone took it to the courts and got it struck down. Hopefully some judges still believe in Judicial Review, and will take that case as precedent.

I think bills like this should not only be struck down, the people responsible for sponsoring them should be executed.

And what is even more sickening is they got a Black man to try and help reinstate slavery.

Isn't this one of the "just making a point" bills? Kind of like Ron Paul's declaration of war bill that he would vote against?
This is Charlie Wrangle- one of the most anti war congresmen we are talking about.
He wants to generate a knee jerk reaction- and he is succeeding so far.

No, this bill is for manditory service for 2 years in peactime or war. It isn't only the millitary, but community service and AmeriCorps.

The thing that no one ever considers in these bills is that in order for people to "serve" they have to quit jobs where they are so valued that they are actually paid....to do jobs that are so valueless that no one is willing to pay. Sounds like a great way to kill our economy by spending good value after bad.

Chairman Mao had the same idea of sending doctors and engineers out to the grain fields to teach them "humility" and make them "earn" a real living.

Stalin also follows this excellent line of "do-gooders"

Folks . . . we HAVE a draft - a Defacto Draft!

When our Servicemen and women keep getting recalled for tour upon tour, it IS a draft.

The worst thing is that they'll make it sound like anyone who opposess this bill is opposed to community service, like the Neo-cons said anyone who opposed the PATRIOT Act was unpatriotic.
