I'm trying to turn my dad into a Ron Paul supporter.

Here is some background info on my dad, in case it will help with points.
-In his mid-40s
-Served in Iraq for one year- oddly doesn't care about John Edwards not guaranteeing to pull out of Iraq
-Voted for John Kerry in last presidential election
-Thinks Ron Paul is too radical
-Knows a lot of the government is corrupted

He still has an open mind though, and says he can be convinced.

Please give me some points to sway him with.

It is much easier to sway a undecided voter.

What does he like about Edwards?

What does he think about limited government?

But this is my dad, and I'd be really happy if I could sway him.

Always amazes me when people call RP radical!!

The Constitution is too radical? Balanced budget and limited government are radical?

How about talking about the economy with your dad. Ron is the only candidate who will discuss our financial problems. All the others want to ignore the problems or act like they don't exist.

If your dad does not believe that the country is in an economic crisis, show him a video of David Walker (US Comptroller General).

Good Luck!

How are Ron Paul and John Edwards both a possibility to support for one person?

What does he perceive to be radical about Dr. Paul? Abolishing the Fed? Is he familiar with it not being a real gov't agency? Et cetera?

It can be done. What's your fathers main issues, that is why does he really prefer Edwards.

If he knows gov't is very corrupt then that's a very good reason to get some one in that has a real record on voting against big gov't and some one that the lobbyists don't even bother to talk to because it's a waste of their time! Remember this is just one of the reasons they call him "DR. NO!"

My response from Democratic leaning voters has been pretty positive with this so far today

Not really a Ron Paul video, but it definately seems to be waking people up to the fact that if the economy dies, (gay marraige, socialized health, global warming, college for everyone, your issue here) no longer matters.

At that point, Ron Paul is a much easier sell.

Tell him this, if he votes for the best of the republicans (Ron Paul), then everyone will have a better choice in the general election rather than having to choose between a pro war or anti war candidate.

Because its either Hillary or Obama for the democrats anyways, so that would be a truely wasted vote if he went with Edwards. So tell him to do you a favor and vote for RON!!!!

I'm working on one of those, too. Just so happens he's an herbalist by trade, so it was pretty easy to get him to admit that he has no use for mandatory health insurance (that he'll be forced to pay for even though he wouldn't use it) and doctor checkups and vaccinations.

Since when are any of the Democrats antiwar? All those running AFAIK have always voted to fund it, those that were in Washington when it started all voted to start it, and none of them say they will get the troops out before 2013.

(Well, the three main ones people bring up to me. Kucinich is an exception)

I must confess I don't know Edwards' record or position on CAFTA. But, in general, herbalists are easy to convert to President Paul because he does not believe in regulation of supplements. If Edwards is pro-CAFTA, it is a slam dunk because CAFTA regulates supplements . . .

Um, easy.

John Edwards = CFR

CFR = establishment

establishment = more of the same

more of the same = continued corruption by the power elite

If he knows the government is corrupt, you have a starting point.

Dems believe that they can make the government "uncorrupt" by just being elected. It's pratically been a principal since Carter's "I believe our government can be as great as our people are,".

However, it's oh so obvious that the government will never be uncorrupted by more of the same. Ron Paul is the only one who can actually change government.
