Michigan has several Universities with huge enrollments. Just take a look at this list I compiled of the largest universities in the state.

University of Michgan 41,000
Michigan State University 46,000
Western Michigan University 24,000
Central Michigan University 27,000
Eastern Michigan University 23,000
Wayne State University 33,000
Oakland University 19,000
Northern Michigan University 9,000
Lake Superior State University 3,000
University of Detroit - Mercy 5,600
U of M Dearborn 8600

That's almost 240,000 students! The grassroots needs to target these campuses and spread the word that there are no democratic delegates in MI. So many young people gravitate toward RP and so many are dems that will not have the opportunity to vote. I nice pull from this demographic could result in a WIN in MI!!!

2% is 5000ish votes.

It should be targeted, but it isn't everything. We need to target all voters.

Remember, many students may say they support a particular candidate but turnout is usually lower. BUT you can mention to the pro-obama students that an Obama vote won't count for delegates, as Democratic party stripped the states of all its delegates.

Their anti-war vote will count with RP. :D

If students turn out for Ron Paul in MI then he will win. The fact that MI is winner take all by district could be HUGE for RP! Even with moderate student turnout he could win in Ann Arbor, East Lansing, and Kzoo!

He should also win Dearborn with the Muslim vote and UM-Dearborn.

Don't forget that a large part of a student population may be from out of state.

We need students, but we need everyone.

All the Universities on that list are public schools. State law requries 70% in-state enrollment for a school to be recieve state funding. U of M hovers right at 70% every year, MSU I believe is about 80-85% in-state. The rest are probably 90%+ in-state, with the possible exception of Wayne State.

I'd say that it would be worthwhile just to get every student at those schools to the polls. Typically, you want to ID your supporters, then call them, but I would argue in this instnce that you just want as many of those students to vote, period.

Is there election day registration in Michigan as there is in New Hampshire?

The whole state of Mi is full of students, Thats why it's going to be so easy to win that state.
