View Full Version : My thoughts on Ron Paul

This morning, I watched Ron Paul's response to the insult thrown at him in the form of a question (electability - do you in fact have any?) again, for about the 10th time, and it occurred to me - we are living witness to one of the great moments in American History.

I have my first child on his way in June. I am collecting these videos, and will someday watch them with him. He will see what America stands for, he will see that honesty and integrity can exist in government, and he will see Ron Paul as a hero; a true champion of liberty.

And I now finally, deeply understand that this is about much more than the election.

I think all Ron Paul supporters understand that our country is at a crossroads, a turning point. Dr. Paul's campaign will be studied for decades, perhaps centuries, as either the great catalyst in the revolution that saves our country, or as the last great stand to warn us as we slide deeper into socialism and ultimately, tyranny.

This is important. This is history in the making. I will continue to contribute money, time, and effort to keep Dr. Paul on that stage for as long as possible.

Fact. If the establishment has it's way with this country he will be left out of the official history of the US, but he will never be forgotten by true patriots. If he wins it will literally be one of the most important events in the history of this country. He's the only one who can turn this country around and keep us "on top" in the 21st century... HELL he's the only one who even WANTS that. The others are all globalist hacks who don't give a shit about this great nation.

Now I know what my parents loved about Reagan. He had his shortcomings when he got into office, but his ideas were great. I remember my dad talking about him when I was a kid. How things would change. What happened? I don't want to see it happen again.

I am so glad other people feel this way. I was starting to think I was a kook. :D

I've thought about this exer51 - but it's not like they can "burn all the books." History will survive in digital form, pure and unfiltered.

Yeah, the thing is that this was a speech he was giving for Barry Goldwater, Sr. These were Goldwater's words and principles.

Reagan talked a great game, but unfortunately he didn't walk his talk. But, boy, could he talk well.

There is a good reason why Barry Goldwater, Jr. endorses Dr. Paul for President. He knows the real deal when he sees it.

Maybe not, but do you honestly think he'll be given any major coverage 20 years from now when this country is a socialist dictatorship? Like I said if that happens he'll only be remembered by patriots, not your average Joe on the street.

Liberty is the destiny of humanity. The struggle will go on.

So what I'm saying is that if this country were to fall to despotism, at some point there will be another revolution to restore liberty and cast off socialism. And when that happens, they'll go looking for the answers in the history they were not taught, and they'll study what Dr. Paul was saying back in the early 21st century.

Ron Paul is a phenomenon, but he will not win this election.

What he will do however is re-spark the Goldwater conservative movement, and that is damn fine with me.

I bet that, if you posted a text version of that speech on deRState or FreeRepublic, and replaced the word Vietnam with Iraq, and liberal with neocon, and put Ron Paul's name on it, the neoclowns over there would rip it to shreds, and call it the words of a "dirty hippy."

Ron Paul would be a great leader and it would be wonderful as he would be able to speak directly to the American people about what needs to be done.

Ron Paul cannot turn the U.S. around. Only the people can and the people must do it on a localised basis at the town, county, and state government levels.

how true that is.

but let us make a stand here and now.

I hope he will be asking "Daddy, what was Fox News"? And, you get to say "they were a part of the "Old Media" before the Ron Paul Revolution".

That speech was beautiful... God forbid I say it, but maybe even more beautiful than many of Ron Paul's. If only Reagan had followed through with his convictions we wouldn't be in this mess now.

I think I'm going to hunt down some more Reagan speeches and maybe some of Goldwater's too. It's just so inspiring to hear people talk about America like they do. Reagan, Goldwater, and Paul all bring me to the brink of tears. This coming from a man who didn't cry when his grandfather died. I think that says a lot about what this country means to me.

I'm sure someday people will look back at him and say "What were our grandparents thinking??? Look at the mess they made for us when there was a clear answer right in front of them" At least I'll be able to look them in the eye and say I tried my damnedest to do what was right.

Yeah, I often tell people that if there should be a revolution against tyranny, even if it must be violent, I wish for it to happen in my lifetime. I would rather be one who fought, rather than one who passed the burden to future generations.

He is my hero, and the hero of countless others. Eventually some of us will run for office, and carry on his legacy. I'd say it is like Goldwater * 10?

I still think he should shoot for a 3rd party run if he doesn't get the nod because I believe his message is too important for him to just give up afterwards if he were to lose.

I'm actually starting to think that without a victory, this unprecedented campaign will be ignored, buried, etc. by historians, news outlets, etc.

We are dangerous to the status quo - why would they want to help pass this legacy along.

Of course, all the centralized filters are being broken down - mainstream media, publishing industry, music industry, film industry, etc. - so I could be wrong

Yep - the Internet is changing all of that free.alive.

This will be the source of history, and it won't be spun by government-run media to their benefit.
