Particulary I'm interested in finding out if any Diebold supported e-voting machines are used in Illinois. And if so, which counties/cities/towns?

And if so, can we somehow protest and have them replaced with standard voting machines?

I'd like to have this be a non-issue before February 5th "Super Tuesday".

There is a website called http://www.verifiedvoting.org/ that has a map of states that have Voter Verified Paper Record (VVPR) requirements and auditing versus those that do not. Note also that there are other companies besides Diebold (now Premier Election Solutions) that have a large monopoly over voting machines and have sordid records of insecurity, error, and susceptibility to hacking: Sequoia, Hart Intercivic, and ES&S are included in this list. I have not found a site yet that fully covers the processes of counting votes in use by each of the states. However, at least the site above provides some preliminary information to the extent of how trustworthy and verifiable the election can be for some states. Your state of Illinois is listed as having VVPR and manual audit requirements.

All 46 South Carolina counties use direct recording electronic voting machines. The voter makes his/her selections by pressing a button beside a party, candidate or issue displayed on the direct recording electronic (DRE) voting machine. After all selections have been made, the voter presses a VOTE button to cast his/her ballot

What is a DRE machine? Is that good news or bad news for your state?
