I've been trying to talk myself into going into politics. Perhaps just on the local level for now. Anyone else feeling this way?=)

I think I would make a better president than any of those clowns up there, except for the good dr.

I couldn't care less about politics until I started following RP. I have had my eyes on criminal justice, but that could always change in the future. :)

I'd only try if the odds were seriously in my favor. Spending 10 hours a day shaking hands and kissing babies doesn't appeal to me.

Seriously considering, especially at local level. The movement has given me greater desire to help this country through public service.

If you're planning to run for a Congressional office, you'd better be independently wealthy!! I had a hard time holding down a job and running for a local city council (lost by about 70 votes) and you simply wouldn't believe the time it takes to run for a larger district (I regularly help my state Senator who covers parts of five counties). It's every evening and weekend out knocking on doors and handing out flyers and putting up signs and then, there's all manner of things to do at night like addressing mail-outs and making phone calls and organizing volunteers. It's unreal. If you currently aren't self employed, it can be a real hassle to try and get time off to speak at all the meetings (Rotary, Chamber, different political events, etc.) because they're often held during the work day. I swear, it's like the current system is purposely set up to insure that no working-joes and jills can even think about running much less still having enough time to do fund-raising to pay for all the signs and promotional materials. If I can get up my nerve to take it on again, however, my next run will be for Congress as we've currently got a Democrat who's been in office for eons (it seems) that we're hearing rumors that he may retire soon.

Family members have suggested that I go into politics... My response was basically "hell no".

I'm more of the brain behind the scenes.

I could help a solid front person.
