Are you only against the war or are you a die-hard conservative who is sick of conservative republicans who have lost their way?

Just wondering, I am the second of those two.

Lol, you didn't make a poll for this thread? It'd be a lot easier.

I'm a lifelong conservative, although, Ron Paul opened my eyes to the fact that I've been only a half-conservative all my life. I now support both a small-government domestic policy as well as a small-government foreign policy.

haha nice one.

Oh and Yeah, good point aspiringconstitutionalist. I was against some of what Bush and our republicans did before - but now I realize just how wrong it all was!

I think that is really speaking that he convinced me of his position, and changed my viewpoint on foreign policy - and it makes sense.

I'm only 20, but I was a neoconservative until this past April, when I first discovered Ron Paul.
At this point I consider myself a paleoconservative-libertarian. I want the federal government MINIMIZED to only the responsibilities that it is given in the Constitution, and on the state level I am a libertarian in the sense that I oppose both economic and social regulation. I generally see government as the source of most evil. People don't start wars. Government does.

I'm PISSED at the current republicans and the state of our government. The war is a mistake also.

I'm a 17-year old (18 in February) who was brainwashed by the neocons till my brother found RP last spring. That made me actually consider him this fall when I investigated the candidates, and in November I was converted...

I'm just turning of age to vote, but ever since I learned of Paul. I've been highly interested in Libertarian ideals and it certainly coincides the ideals of my upbringing, which is simply respect everyone and get respect back in return. So idk if I consider myself conservative, after viewing what bush has done, i see the term conservative as having a very pejorative connotation. I will most likely register Libertarian when I get the chance ( I can't register republican since i wont be 18 by the time my state has its primary ) and I will vote for Ron in the general.

All i really want is to be left to pursue my own dreams as long as i don't hurt anybody. I want the satisfaction of doing things myself. I believe that life is an art form which can only be express through the individual and anybodies outside attempt to take away ones right to create their own art i find offensive and destructive to the ability of human kind to move forward. War is just another attempt to control people and manipulate their emotions to the point where they are afraid to express themselves openly. People want peace but peace will never happen without freedom and hope to last very long. People have to be able to have the right to choose peace over war. Ron Paul is my statement to the world that i choose peace regardless of what i am told should be correct by our society. Choosing peace over war is the most subversive act anybody can undertake. Ron Paul is the most rebellious man in the history of american politics for this and he will be remembered throughout history for it at least around me because i will be talking about how he took a stand like this for the rest of my life. Ron Paul and people like him will always have my vote.

I am conservative on fiscal issues, most moral issues, and especially foreign policy. The two things that I disagree with Ron Paul on are education and healthcare. I believe that in inorder to be truely free we must have a sound mind and body and free of the massive bill that accompanies them. I don't believe that the federal government should regulate them, but it would be in the countries best interest to have an educated and healthy population.

Might I put it to you that getting the government out of education might be the most important step in that direction. The continued growth of the state and unsound fiscal policy has eroded the ability of parents to do anything other than both get full time jobs and abdicate responsibility over to the state for the general welfare of the children. I would encourage you to take a long hard look at the inflation adjusted dollars spent by school districts over the decades and the rate of return on that investment. Our publicly funded schools have failed a great number of the citizenry. I lived, until recently, in a major metro area where they had a 50% graduation rate. I won't give detailed comment on the scholastic ability (or lack thereof) of the half that did graduate.

To me, a "conservative" is someone who preserves tradition. In terms of preserving the tradition of our country as ingrained in the Constitution (limited government, free market economy, liberty for all, etc.), I would say libertarians are the true conservatives. Therefore, as a libertarian, I would call myself a true conservative.

I dont know what you would call me.

I dont like the government doing much at all except building roads, fire department, court system for protecting our constitutional rights and prosecuting those who tread on them.......... all which would be payed for through gas taxes and local taxes.

I believe if someone wants to inject Clorox bleach, or any other harmful substance into their own body, they should be allowed to do so. If they kill themselves in the process, too bad for them and its their funeral and nobody should have to pay for it. Same thing with seatbelt laws or anything else that is set up to "protect" us from ourselves. If you dont wear your seatbelt and you splatter yourself on the road, well, its your families job to scrape it up off the pavement, otherwise the buzzards get a free meal. Tax payers shouldnt pay for someone elses f--k up under any circumstances.

I was not put on this earth to have to worry about other people taking care of themselves and making sure they make the right choices.

I don't like labels.

I'm a flannel wearing, work booted, truck driving, cock sucking, freedom loving, middle aged man from NC. I like fiscal responsibility from my government and leave me alone to live my life.

I have long been the kind of conservative who eschews tax cuts without spending cuts - and have criticized big government "conservatives." It's why I've been voting for libertarian candidates whenever I can. I don't trust republicans anymore.

That changes now. I will vote in favor of all Ron Paul endorsed republicans, or ones that will convince me that they believe what I believe (which is in essence, what Ron Paul believes too).

I was a neo-con until I witnessed Paul smoke Giuliani in the first debate. I was actually already sick of the way. I thought it was a good idea, but I was mad that we were losing. After listening to Ron Paul, I realized the whole idea was ill conceived.

I worship Ron Paul and give him all my money. I believe everything he believes. I'm not aware of any differences in our beliefs. I am not joking. I study his positions and contemplate why he thinks like he does, but I always seem to conclude that he is right.

I was a registered Libertarian but now I'm a Ron Paul Republican.

Definitely sick of the status quo. The party needs defeat after defeat to find its way back to its roots if Paul cannot get the nomination.
