View Full Version : Wouldn't a Billboard Be Great?

Let's think BIG!

I've sat in rush hour traffic and out of boredom read the billboards. It happens every evening and morning. I know of one instance where a billboard was donated - for much less of a worthy cause than ours.

Any ideas on how this could be brought about? Does anyone know about billlboard advertising?

We discussed a similar idea in the Gainesville meetup, and one of the members was going to look into it.

I'm sure I'll have more details after the next meeting on August 6th, but you may want to contact the organizer of the Gainesville group to get in contact with the member who was going to research billboards. He might have some ideas or perhaps it could be a collaborative effort between the two groups.

I agree that you'll get more bang for the buck with signs, and you'll demonstrate support when folks see lots of signs everywhere. Signs are a necessity. But I don't think researching a billboard will compete with sign-making for scarce resources. One person can do it.

I didn't want to start on this if someone else has already been doing it, but judging from the response to my post, no one has. If that's the case, I'll start looking into it. Can't hurt!

Thanks -

I followed the link and searched their messages. I found yours, but no others.

Do you know who there was going to look into it?

No, I don't recall. It was discussed at a meeting, so I'm sure the organizer knows.

I had also discussed it with another member, Chad, who had looked into it, and the prices varied. For one of the less expensive ones along I-75 here in Gainesville it was about $700 per month and the shortest contract they would accept is 6 months. Plus, there's the fee for designing the billboard.

I believe Chad's wife works for a printing company, and he mentioned that she may be able to have the billboard designed for next to nothing. Also, he said that he had not discussed the purpose of the billboard with the owner, so it's possible that one could negotiate a lower price or a donation of space if one were to find a liberty-friendly owner.

Anyway, here's the link to contact him directly. http://ronpaul.meetup.com/80/message/?recipientId=4584593

Did anything come of this?

I am trying to get my local meetup to get a billboard up on I75 in the Bradenton/Sarasoata area.

I havn't checked pricing in this area yet though.

Now is a great time to catch summer vacationers from all over the nation to the Florida using 175.

I've done about all I can sitting behind this computer. Next is to get out and start shaking hands and talking to the right people who might could help with a billboard. This has to be local work, wherever you are.

I'm hoping for the month January, for the primary run-up.

This project is still a long shot.

Nice, huh? I'm using it in my email signatures.

the Colorado billboard is a bumper sticker, too.
Get it here for $3.99:

I like that image!

Twenty 6' by 12' billboards run about $6,000 per month. (http://www.billboard-ads.com/types.html) That's $300 per billboard per month.

Now that I've done some sign waving on a freeway overpass, I realize how many views a billboard could get. I plan on going out there waving my RP sign a couple of times a week, but $300 doesn't sound like a crazy price.

Big freeway signs at rush hour have to be the biggest bang for the buck. Just 7 people waving wearing 3 ft high letters on each of their large t shirts would be seen by 100,000s of people and they can't stop you.

TWENTY Billboards! OK, what company offers that, and in what market?
