I would not emailed to thank them for using Dr. Paul as a tease for 1 1/2 hours.
He did a fine job of defending himself but think of the people that only heard the
negative lead-in.

I would advise against gushing though or maybe they will feel they were too soft. Mayube it's best to tell them that they showed some of the damning letter but allowed time for explanation and that it was fair coverage (all true, just not going overboard).
